So what is the story on Dwight Wilson ? Does he have eligibility to play in 23 -24 ? (Asking for a friend)
He's playing like a man amongst boys.

Great question...depending on what you believe from announcers and others this season concerning DWIII...here is what we know about the young man.

1.) Dwight Wilson also apparently goes by DJ Wilson.
2.) Dwight Wilson was also actually called Dwight Wright for an entire half of basketball during Dwight's first ever game in a Bobcat uniform by our own announcer Russ.
3.) DJ Wilson, who was formerly known as Dwight Wilson and Dwight Wright, is really 37 years old.
4.) Dwight Wilson is a man amongst boys.
5.) Dwight Wilson is a bull in a china shop.
6.) Jeff Boals always takes out DJ Wilson at the first TV timeout of every game for the Whiz. Yet, MAC announcer Steve Wolfe was perplexed by this moment during Friday's Ohio/Akron game. Steve Wolfe clearly does zero research.
7.) Dwight Wilson is completing his final year of eligibility this season.

I believe, but I'm not 100 percent sure, that this is DWIII's covid and final year. However, I seem to recall hearing some strange situations in which some players have gotten two covid years. It's all very murky, until BTC speaks, and then it's like an E. F. Hutton moment.

He's done after this year.

2016-17: Sr in HS

2017-18: Fr at JMU
2018-19: So at JMU
2019-20: Jr at JMU
transferred
2020-21: Sr at Ohio
2021-22: COVID year, but medical redshirt at Ohio
2022-23: COVID year at Ohio

I don't understand why this question comes up for Dwight, he is the most obvious example of having all eligibility expired.

Players with the Covid year option left are Jaylin Hunter, Miles Brown, & Ben Roderick...that's all.

For some reason, Jaylin has always been listed as a Junior despite definitely being in his 4th year of basketball in the exact same way Miles & Ben are. I suppose we could take from that Jaylin definitely plans to exercise his Covid year option. I have not yet heard any speculation on what Miles & Ben's decisions will be.

Thanks. He's given us two extra years of his earning power by staying beyond 2020-21. I hope his experiences off/on the court will help him catch up quickly when he moves on to what's next. I really enjoy watching Dwight play and will miss seeing him wearing the green and white.

Check out his age, in many matchups he is a man among boys! Be nice to have him back though.

Dwight right now is averaging 15.9 ppg and 9.6 rpg. Counting this year, it's been 20 seasons since Brandon Hunter went to the NBA, leaving with a double-double at 21.5 ppg and 12.6 rpg. Without looking, can you name the only Bobcat since Hunter left to average a double-double for a full season?

My money is on Tillman.

Why? Because Shabamon says so.

Tony Tony Tony...Yep, the answer is Tony Campbell in 2015-2016. He averaged 17.1 ppg and 10.2 rpg. Just missing out on the double-double title was Leon in 2007-2008 when he averaged 16.4 ppg and 9.8 rpg. That rounds up to a double-double, but didn't actually hit that 10 mark. I'll be interested to see if DWIII can pick up the pace and get to that.

Separately, when looking at www.sports-reference.com , it's amazing to see how dominant Leon was for us. Of all players we have had this century, Leon has the most win shares. He has 20.2, while DJ Cooper is at 20.0. After that, big dropoff to Tillman at 16.7. Also found it interesting that Nick Kellogg had a greater win share at OHIO (13.7) than B-Hunt (13.4). Tony's was a surprisingly low 10.8, though injury played a big part in that.

I remember seeing a game on TV in 09 that said there were three players in the country that led their conference in scoring and rebounding average. They were Jerome Tillman, Luke Harangody, and Blake Griffin. That's why I guessed Rome.

And, I thought baseball had some wonky stats. Just looked up how win-share is calculated. Wow!

My father told me during freshman year that I had 4 years only. "From what I hear, it's hard to get people back from that place."

And think, Tillman had no scholarships coming out of his senior year. (If I remember correctly).
