Final Ohio 65, Eastern Michigan 55. Ohio had to have a win in this game, coming in at 1-7 to EMU's 3-5. With the win, Ohio moves into a 3-way tie for 10th place and is just 1 game behind two teams tied for 8th. And the Bobcats have a game remaining against each of the four teams just ahead of them in the standings.
Uneven game for Yaya Felder, who scored 24 on 8-18 shooting, but also committed 11 turnovers and forced Ohio's bench to call two fourth quarter timeouts to save possessions when she dribbled into double teams and was trapped against the sideline. Its easy to forget she's a true sophomore and is far from a finished product.
But she got scoring help from Abby Garnett with 10 and Jasmine Hale with 9 points. More importantly, the defense came together to make life difficult for EMU's post-oriented offense while shutting down their only plus 3-point shooter, freshman Olivia Smith.
Ohio also had a lucky day, which is no small thing. Late in the fourth quarter, Caitlyn Kroll was double-teamed under the basket and tried to throw the ball off a defender and out of bounds. She missed, but the ball went directly to Kendall Hale, who dropped it in for two points - and an unexpected assist for Kroll.

Joe, an assist is an assist is an assist. What a great story that makes!
Kind of reminds me of a half court pass I made to a big man under the basket in a pick up game at Ping. We were playing “ones and twos.” As I made the pass the ball slipped out of my hand before I was ready to release it and it sailed on me. It hit the backboard right at the back of the iron and then fell through the hoop. I tried to act like I had intended that, but everyone knew it was an errant pass. It was certainly the longest basket I ever made!
