Hate to break it to OUr coach, but we aren’t good enough to overcome technical fouls that kill momentum.

I doubt this "break it" post hits his radar at all. It also apparently did not hit the team radar also.... :/

I would take it a step further and say in general he conveys too much victim vibes when to comes to the offense which can damage the team's attitude. I had an assistant coach with my youth baseball team always whining about the umps...it 100% wore off on the players and gave them an out to blame any negative results on the stupid officials. I get Boals has to stay on them and jockey for calls but he is often irate over calls that were very obviously correct. That's annoying.

Perhaps he is channeling his frustration over the team’s struggles.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. He is irritated over those struggles and, therefore, has a shorter fuse than usual.

Spot on... he's frustrated. With some teams coach getting T'ed up will emotionally spark them. [see personal antidote below]. Unfortunately, it seems this team is incapable of getting emotional, clutch buckets.

Personal antidote: In Frosh yr HS Baseball we had a coach who we all liked. One game we were sloggy (we weren't very good) and the ump was brutal. Coach went bezerk at the ump after a questionable call and got ejected. Seeing his fire and passion to see us succeed certainly fired us all up and made us sell out for him.

today that is a $150 fine, and a 2 game suspension. Pretty sure I can find a better way to motivate my players than getting into my own bank account for their shitty play.

Recruiting better players may solve some of his frustration issues.

Technical fouls set a poor example for the youth of this country. Mr Boals should reconsider his behavior

The rate of posts from The Optimist that are sarcastic is higher than any other BA poster. . . with the possible exception of BTC.

I may be in third place, but sometimes my sarcasm is so subtle that it goes over everyone’s head on BA. Or, should it be under their feet!

Went to the OSU game last night (cheering on UW my Dad's alma mater) and Holtmann got 2 technical fouls in a 5 second span. Wisconsin hit all 4 free throws and got a bucket right before the half...was a huge 6 point gift.

I don't consider it sarcasm if you have to explain to the audience that it's sarcasm. Therefore, the omission of OCF on the BA podium for sarcasm alongside The Optimist and BTC.

Sarcasm has been defined as the ability to insult folks without them realizing it. So, I would not expect you to understand.

As Edgar Allen Poe once said: “I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.” Not sure which stage I’m in now.
