Got back to our hotel in Laconia, Mi after football game and watched the last half of the Marshall game. Was surprised to see us so far behind. There was a bright spot, Wiznitzer looked like a basketball player, making all kinds of nice inside moves, gathering rebounds, making tough shots while closely guarded. Don't know what to attribute this to, but he looks like a real promising player going forward, not the project he seemed to be a week ago. In addition to looking for skilled, he seemed more aggressive. Any explanations?

In addition he seems like the only one who can make free throws with any consistency.

Roderick (83%) and Miles (87%) have higher percentages of guys with more than 10 FT's.

Thats said, he's averaging almost 6 PPG, 62+% from the field and 77% on FT's with 3 RPG in 14+ minutes. I've been more impressed with him than both our transfer guards who have struggled big time and are shooting 35% and 33% from the field.

This gave me a good chuckle. Kinda like Donna Shalala saying she loved the music of Eric Clapner! But not so similar as she spoke it and he typed it!

autocorrect strikes again . . . I usually catch these but was a little distraught after the football game. In the immortal words of the late George Voinovich when I asked him why he'd made an error in a reference to osteopathic medicine on the campaign trail, "Give me a break."

You should have seen what autocorrect thought "Voinovich" should be. However, this is a family friendly site! :-)

Given how Gabe looked in the first game or two, I feel like he has shown a ton of improvement already this year. There is optimism with him, from my standpoint, and after the first game or two I would have (and probably did) said different.

In one moment, he can mix it up a bit underneath and has shown he can score in the low post. At another time, he plays like someone on stilts wearing gloves. We need his minutes, and hopefully with more playing time than he's had for a while, he'll settle in.

I confess I thought there was a Laconia, MI, like there is In New Hampshire, and was being playful.

I knew you were being playful, but in truth my autocorrect didn't know about Livonia, Michigan. I just checked and there isn't a Laconia, MI, but there an historical and administrative region in Greece by that name.

Happy to see his almost have a double-double today. Led us in rebounding and perfect on FG's. Given some of the criticism he's had here I'd say he's progressing quite well.

+1 with more minutes and the trajectory he’s on he’ll be a worthy replacement to Dwight.

Certainly the player who has improved the most since the first game of the season.

He had a couple tough left-handed finishes. If he's amphibious, he'll be tough to handle and we could have something really, really nice the next few years.

(Yes, I threw in a joke there....)

Another Wiznitzer's coming out party.....

Reading the new book, written by Richard Horowitz, titled, "In the Garden of the Righteous". Describing 10 different people who saved people, particularly Jews from the sure deaths during the late 1930's and early 40's.

The first of the 10 stories included the following paragraph: "Sousa Mendes (the righteous) first experienced the challenges of Circular 14(prohibiting issuing visas to Jews) when an Austrian Jewish professor from the University of Vienna, Arnold Wiznitzer, requested a visa. Knowing that Wiznitzer would be interned and separated from his wife and son if he could not leave France, Sousa Mendes issued the visa anyway."

And here we have the first Wiznitzer's coming out......Coming out of soon to be occupied Europe.

Very interesting. I wonder how close a relation our Wiznitzer might be to Arnold. Would not be surprised if there was some relationship.
