I hope someone gave a smug wave goodbye to Peter Suder when Miami left the court after the game.

Couldn't happen to a better group of guys over at Miami.

Probably not the best scenario for the MAC, or for Ohio. But whatever. Miami's a school full of psychopaths, and this is good.

But ultimately, having another chance to beat Miami would have been motivating for the team. Oddly, I think we're probably less likely to win the tournament now, even if we already had very low odds.
Agreed. They showed their *** after beating us, taunting the crowd and almost inciting altercations. Karma, she don’t miss.

Great finish in BG/Toledo.

With BG down three with ten seconds left, Toledo fouls with about seven to go (smart smart smart). BG makes both free throws. BG fouls. Toledo misses the front end. BG 10 foot floater rolls just off. Toledo advances.

In 2001, 8 seed Miami beat 1 seed Central Michigan. And in 2000, 9 seed Miami beat 1 seed Bowling Green.
Losses to the 8 seed could have easily cost these teams at-large bids. It almost certainly did in BG's case. Even as weak as the MAC is with respect to then, even with the gap that NIL is creating, even with as god awful as Miami's non-conference schedule was, even with as many close games that they won rather than blowing teams out, even with rule changes since then to essentially double count the opportunities for teams with tougher schedules ....I still have to believe that they sneak in.

Really thought we were heading to another upset there and the rare 5 v 8 matchup.

It would be fitting that Toledo finally gets it done in a year where there are 2 dominant MAC teams and they aren't one of them.

He was announcing a game between two coaches named Todd, so why not just stick with that name for the rest of the night? Makes it easier for him to remember.

Todd Groce vs. Todd Halcovage
Todd Boals vs. Todd Senderoff

Having to play that UMass team as an eight seed was rotten luck, but Miami had been itching to lose a game for weeks now. See, pretty boys? Shoulda lost at the Convo to break that seal!

Watch Toledo finally win the tournament after having their worst regular season in years.

BOLD Prediction: UMass will win the MAC tournament. I've thought all season long, in every game I've watch them play, that they had the best talent on the court. They just weren't putting it together. Now they've got the big Mo and they will play with more confidence, and the individual parts will start to fit together. And, Martin, is an experienced coach. He's also a seasoned tournament coach having been in the NCAA tournament numerous times, and taking South Carolina to the Final Four in 2017. He knows how to win in March!

With an odd number of teams (13) in the MAC there is always one team with a bye every Tuesday and Fri/Sat of conference play. UMass was that team on the final night of the regular season last Friday. Did that extra time (9 days) to prepare for Miami provide some advantage for UMass?

I’m with you OCF, UMass would not be a surprise to win this. They certainly took the crease out of Miami’s khaki’s!!! The Redhawks have been living on borrowed time for the last few weeks and the clock struck 12 shortly after 1 pm today.

Reghi was off all game long . He is usually very good at calling Mac games and has done so for a long time, but he was brutal tonight

He has always made a high volume of mistakes. He's like that friend that's a bit slow, trips over his own words and gets confused easily. But you keep him around because he's a solid guy.

I love Reghi, but maybe he shouldn’t be calling four games in a day at this stage of his career. Last night was rough. Misidentifying players, mispronouncing names, pontificating on game strategies that made no sense, repeating the same factoids from the media game notes sheet over and over. (Someone must have gotten in his ear about that last one when he brought up Javan Simmons previously playing for Toledo four times in the first 10 minutes of the game.)

He still sounds great, but he’s not nearly as sharp anymore.

Bold, but wrong! Worst game I've seen UMass play. Seemed they had nothing left in the tank after beating Miami. Massachusetts looked like the Colonials at Bunker Hill -- the Minutemen Massacre at Cleveland!

Akron beats Kent and now has a good shot at their 4th title in 5 years. And I think they are something like 38-2 in MAC games over the past 2 years (we were actually one of the teams to beat them). Groce is absolutely killing it!

Apparently Tod K said in his postgame last years team was “unlikable and selfish”.

Simmons leaves and Toledo finds itself in the MAC final.

Simmons goes to Ohio and the 2025-2026 Bobcats become the most unlikable team in school history.

Hmmmmm.

Flex on.

I don't read into this much. Nearly an entire roster bails on a coach and coach says in hindsight he doesn't like those guys. Gee what a news flash there.

Death, taxes and Toledo (BG) not winning the MAC Tournament.

Complain about Boals & Timmy O'Shea all you want but they made the tourney. Not reaching the NCAA's since 1980 (1968) is absolutely ridiculous.
