Pray tell what other big did we decide to offer instead? Who's in charge of recruiting strategy?

I thought we did initially?

I know there's been a lot of disapproval of Simmons flexing and attitude, but he's been an absolute beast offensively. We'd be in REALLY rough shape without him on the roster.

Simmons is very good. He's our best offensive player, in my opinion.

Article says we met with him and then backed off in favor of...?

He redshirted at Toledo, so he is in the same class as Hadaway, Sheldon, A Brown & E James. We also had a somewhat unpexpected 5th year of eligibility for Dwight Wilson. And at the risk of setting off FearLeon, we brought in Wiz from Louisville.

Simmons & Hadaway both committed before their senior year of high school, so depending on timing my guess would be the answer to your question is indeed Hadaway.

Well if we're going by when he first entered college, it's either his current front court teammate or FearLeon's favorite player of all time.

Simmons first college season was 2022-23. The Ohio bigs on the roster were Dwight Wilson (Senior), THE WIZ (Junior), AJ Clayton (Sophomore) and Aidan Hadaway (Freshman)

Such great memories The Whiz era was.

This staff sure knows how to recruit and develop bigs.

Question for Leon. Would you trade Breath for The Whiz on this year's roster?

I would.

Edit - actually not sure I would but its close.

No.

I would trade Mister Softee (Breath) for The Upgrade (Vic Searls).

I was/am a huge Searls fan. All the dude did was play hard and work his butt off on every play. He was smooth around the hoop and was just a good guy to have. I wish we had him on this team.

I take Breath over Searls 10 times or of 10 for this year's team and last.

Searls was a solid offensive big. That's not what we needed last year and it's not what we needed this year alongside Simmons. We need a strong post defender and rebounder, and Breath is substantially better at both than Searls. Last year's team was truly awful defending the rim and rebounding. Even with his limited playing time, Breath's improved that.

It's still baffling to me we saw 0 minutes this year of Breath and Simmons on the court together. Truly baffling.

And only a few minutes, if that, of Kuany and Hadaway together before Tuesday night when Kuany started in place of Kelly.

Boals substitution patterns have always baffled me. Many times I've seen him take the guy with hot hand out of the game and substitute a bricklayer. He seems to never quite sense the flow the game. I admittedly have a low BBIQ, but I think I could make better in-game substitutions than he does.
