Looks like Kuany has put some "meat on the bones" and deserves more minutes. He's flying to the rim and making plays.

I've been thinking that he deserves more minutes since the beginning of the season. Glad to see it happening now.

The extra minutes was only because of Hadaway foul trouble. He continues to be used exclusively as Hadaway's backup. Kuany's potential excites me, I hope he is a starter next year which I acknowledge could go poorly at times

If Boals remains and his excursion into the portal goes the way it went last time, next season will be somewhere between a train wreck and a dumpster fire. Thus, it won't matter if Kuany starts or not.

(Time for Boals' apologists to pick an NBA star to compare him to...my first one would be Pascal Siakam, 4-time NBA all-star)**

As a matter of fact, lets go ahead and do more returning players....

Simmons = Zion Williamson (currently 22ppg in the NBA)
Walking Bucket = Kon Knueppel (19ppg as an NBA rookie)
Evans = Chet Holmgren (currently 17ppg & 9 boards in the NBA)

Kuany's current plus/minus on the season is -99.
His plus/minus per 40 minutes is -24.3.

Those would be worst on the entire team if it weren't for Ayden Evans (who clocks in at -22 in much fewer minutes played and thus has a plus/minus per 40 of -41.7).

He's long. He's athletic. Sometimes he's exciting. He's very raw. What he hasn't been is "good".

Kuany was a +10 on my "Wiz Scale" against Miami.

Maybe he doesn't pass your eye test, because as a damn team we're 256th in defensive rating, 288th in points allowed, so unfortunately his +/- doesn't really bother me cause as a team we can't do anything right. 199th offensive rating collectively.

I disagree that Kuany hasn't been good. He HAS been good in stretches. But that's all he gets.

Kuany's stats at a per100 basis..
- 1st in 2PT % (Nearly 70%)
- 2nd in offensive rating (behind Jack)
- 2nd in overall fg%
- 5th on the team in scoring with 23.4 points. Higher than JJ. Elliott and Sheldon are holding up the rear.
- 2nd in total defensive rating. (#1 is Fisher, who has only played 5 games.)
- 2nd in blocks
- 5th in rebounds

Any way you slice it, this is a dude who should be starting if for nothing else than to REALLY see what he can do with bulk minutes.

This is kind of my thinking. He hasn't played enough to really get a good sense of what he can do. He needs sustained minutes over several games for him to get his sea legs and for us to see what he is capable of. I think he has a high ceiling.

We're definitely going to "loose" the spelling contest.
