Not that I disagree, and no guarantee, but I've heard good things about 6-7 frosh Zay Mosley.

Is he taking a full med redshirt or coming back to try and make a tournament run?

I recall hearing before the season started that he is a medical redshirt.

It's tough to be excited about idea of "being better next year" because being a better team has yet to come into fruition.
With the obvious caveat that you never fully know with the portal. . .

It's also very hard to be optimistic about next year. We lose two of our top three guys in Pavs and Hadaway, and just don't have much production returning. Of the recruits from the last two years, only Kelly's proven he's likely to be a consistent contributor. Kuany and Burris have shown little bits here and there, but aren't in the rotation meaningfully. Elliott took a major step back. Evans and Fisher don't see minutes at all.

We're basically gonna return 15% of our production from a 500-ish team. Hard to envision how we're good next year without a major overhaul.
Next season is looking pretty rough right now. This year's portal class was the best we've had on paper and we're still not seeing any improvement overall.

Speaking of, as we remain stagnant, NIL donations/resources will likely decrease rather than increase.

I'm a broken record at this point, but I feel like we recruit based on rankings. That's the heaviest weight column surely. We routinely have the highest ranked class. I believe our only year under Boals not ranked 1 or 2 was Clayton's year (that worked out okay). We just don't see it on the court.

I'd love to give the kid credit who said it, but we have a ton of shooters and no makers.

We have assembled the best pick-up basketball tournament team ever... unfortunately, we need rebounders, defenders, spot-up guys, creators. We currently have Pavs surrounded by 9 shooters and... Hadaway who *wants to be a shooter and Simmons, who wants to be a bully but is undersized.

Simmons is probably the strongest player in the MAC and absolutely can bully his way to the rim whenever he wants. Look at how often he gets fouled. He's very, very good at that.

I'm not really sure what people expected Simmons to be, but he's a good player.

I wasn't 100% in simply because Simmons early behavior at times on the court. Not like I haven't witnessed that type of behavior before but didn't want it to translate into technical fouls and/or always making it about him.

Now I am all in. Dude just plays aggressive and is a damn good player.

That said, why does it seem players come to OHIO and their ability to make free throws tanks and/or they miss in critical points of the game?

+1. I think he bullies quite well thank you. Simmons (and Pav for that matter) is very rarely part of our problems.

Ohio was actually the best free throw shooting team in the MAC last year. This year has more or less regressed to the mean.

That was me I think, but I stole that from bornacatfan who said something similar a long time ago.

I have no idea how we recruit. It almost feels like throwing out scholarships to anyone and everyone and seeing what sticks at this point.

As I alluded to above, I don't know what a Boals player is because we don't run an offense and haven't had any consistent personnel type year in and year out under the current staff. Recently, we really like Reynoldsburg. That's all I got.

I think we're better than we were last year, but against a tougher schedule. We've definitely improved a few areas -- notably the front court and perimeter defense.

But that doesn't make us good enough to win the MAC. I don't think we are and we haven't been in a long time.

The latter part of your post is what I was referring to. The area improvements are nice, but only if they equate to more wins/good enough to win the MAC imo.
