We were playing our first football game to try to win the national championship but our loss to Rutgers likely eliminated us and losing to Ohio State definitely did.

St Mary's (the team that beat us by 30) got boat raced in the Atlantis tourney today by almost that much.

It's OK folks - we are a football school anyways.
Correction: we're just a school. It's not like you're necessarily one or the other. And nobody thinks of us as good at either.
At this moment in time, we are a heck of a lot better in football than basketball.
Are we though?

So a football team currently in, what, 4th place in the MAC. Who is INFINITY games away from a national championship. And had literally never played a single game with an opportunity to get to a national championship.

Or.

A bad basketball team. Currently projected to finish somewhere around 6th in the MAC. Who was 5 games away from a national championship 5 years ago and 4 wins away 14 years ago.

Claiming we're a football school now is like proclaiming youre the champion ping pong player on your local street growing up. It has zero implications beyond your little street.

LOL. And I was 4 numbers away from winning a $768 million lottery. You state the football team will never have a chance to play for a national championship. I agree. That said, our basketball team will never be in the position to play for a national championship.

And "currently" the football team is in 2nd place. WMU 7-1, Ohio 6-2. What follows are 5-2 records. I believe you understand percentages.

4 and 5 games away from a national championship is being INFINITELY far away from said championship. You see if you multiply the probability of winning these theoretical 4 or 5 games the end result would round to zero.

The Bobcats football program has been better than basketball for a few years now! However you won’t get many good ole boys on this website to admit that! Many posters backed the former AD in paying the head coach top dollar in the MAC but without the results! On the other hand this same former AD neglected to close the deal with the most successful football coach in the league the last four seasons. She is now in Baton Rouge after secretly giving the womens BB coach a renewal. The womens BB program is coming off an incredible lousy last four years. This same AD even hired the current football coach in December of 2024 and it took ten months and the current AD to finish that deal! Ohio’s football coach worked without a contract as per USA Today for about ten months! But hey many of you don’t want to hear that!

Bethune-Cookman loses by 44 today.

The comparison of scores thing is not working in Jeff B's favor this weekend.

These days it is increasingly difficult to assess head coaches and programs. Back before NIL and the portal, the negative assessments of Boals in year 7 would be completely valid. By year 7 back then, you would have expected a cohesive system and consistent improvements.

Now, the rosters reset every season. What does Jeff Boals season 5 have in common with Jeff Boals season 7 from a roster standpoint? Two players (Sheldon and Hadaway). That was the 2023-2024 season, not ancient history.

Here's that team's top guys by mpg:

Hunter -- Transfer in who graduated from Ohio
Reef -- Transfer in who graduated from Ohio
Miles Brown -- played 6 years at Ohio
AJB -- 3 years at Ohio
Clayton -- 4 year guy
Hadaway -- 4 year guy
Elmore James -- Played 3 years at Ohio, left because of playing time concerns
Sheldon -- 4 year guy
Wiz -- Transfer in, graduated from Ohio
Cornish -- 9 schools in 3 years

That team's roster turned over because of graduation, largely. Three guys transferred out -- two of whom weren't getting the minutes they wanted.
