I hope the door is open for Elmore to stay. A senior guard who has done a lot of positive things for us shouldn't be understated. I like him as a sixth man on next year's squad but that may not interest him.
Cleveland State perhaps?
Would be a fit for sure, was thinking Kent possibly as well. I really don't see him moving up. Out of those two schools, he should just stay in Athens IMO.

They may be jumping ship in Toledo. Sam Lewis in the portal.

Toledo has had some of the best talent in the conference over the last few years, but also continues to be gutted each portal season. All eyes on Wilson now.

Hadaway made an "I'm back" (graphic included) post on IG.

I'm not sure if there was ever a chance he might leave, but I'm wondering if we'll see others follow suit with posts. Pavs commented "Yessuhhh" so I would assume he's back as well.

Good news. Captain Chaos and PAV look to be back. Now we need to lock down Brown and E2.

I'm not too concerned with Brown, his injury history might have him planted in Athens.

E2 makes me a little nervous. I'm concerned he didn't like how he was utilized this season and I think a lot of schools would be interested in potentially getting him for 3 years.

Pav announces he's returning. So dystopian that this kind of thing warrants an announcement, but excellent news altogether.

Nothing more dehumanizing and oppressive than college students having the freedom to decide where they play basketball.

Captain Chaos: Back
PAV: Back

Now to get commitments from Brown and E2. Strange to say commitment for returning players, but that's the world we live in now.

The point was that this sport (and football) has become so turbulent with personnel (and you know there are some abusers of the system) that players have to make announcements that they are maintaining the status quo. And who all should we expect to hear from? Is Kiir Kuany going to announce he's staying?

Pete Suder running it back with Miami. Steele must have dropped a big NIL bag on him. Good for the MAC he's staying.

Agree...ridiculous that players have to make an announcement like this. However since we get little news about this program ever, at least we are getting it straight from the players.

And my point is that it's still just college kids playing basketball, and "dystopian" is a pretty dramatic descriptor.

George Orwell did write a book about NIL/portal/etc just before his death in 1950 and it sounded so outlandish that the publishing company refused to release it.

Grant Kiefer seems to be pretty dialed in as a student reporter. I wonder if he’ll break any news as far as visits and interest are concerned.

The obvious question again: If he couldn't remain a significant competitor on our team, why would you expect other MAC programs to pursue him? Too short, comparatively subpar shooter and rebounder. What am I missing?

Perhaps in the right system and the right fit, he becomes more productive. Good coaches know what they’re looking for.

I'm guessing he'll end up at a D2 school.

Hard to say but he's proven he can play at the D1 level. Its case to case with today's transfer rules. If they can get a cheap guard that can come off the bench as a 6th or 7th man, with experience, I could see any MAC or Horizon league team taking a stab.

What wasn't to like during the final regular season game at Toledo? Or his history in games against Toledo?

Since you asked....MAC Quarterfinal game against Toledo:

3-11 FG
0-3 3-Pointers
2 turnovers

Missed ill-advised corner three with 1:04 left in OT tied at 83 with 20 seconds left on the shot clock.

Sorry, but Elmore rarely passed. His FG% didn't justify the amount of shots he put up. I for one wish him well, but feel we can upgrade here. Elmore hit his ceiling at Ohio.

Buffalo losing Dunn and Bolden. Chances Halcovage actually revives this program?

1%??

Ben Michaels, 6’8’’ forward/center from the MAC all-freshman team, has also been in the portal for a few days now. Nothing to indicate Boals has reached out to him yet. Honestly, I don’t mind that. Averaged 8 and 4, but for one of the worst teams in the country. Not so different from the D2 guys averaging 9/6 that have many posters less than enthusiastic.

I don’t get the distaste for the D2 players. Drake is playing for a spot in the Sweet 16 with 4 starters from D2 a year ago. Especially when Searls has been our most impactful transfer over 6’6 in comparison to Ike and Wiz who came from highly touted programs.
