New Ohio transfer commit - Carter Reese from Ohio Northern. 6'3" guard with two years eligibility. Averaged around 14 ppg with a balance between threes and twos. 38.5% from three.
I think it is a fair question at this point...does anyone know if there are any familial ties from Carter Reese to Jeff Boals?

Westerville North graduate 2 years ago. Holds the school record for career 3 pointers, which is saying something as they have a pretty solid history (e.g. Shaun Stonerook).

Elmore James to Ball State. Is this our first transfer to a MAC school since Grunk?

nvm, forgot about Sam Towns, which is an honest mistake.
Bad Mouth Towns is easy to forget, IMHO.

In terms of EJ to BSU, it's kind of "meh" to me.
I will cheer for Elmore prior to start of Ballz game but continue to boo Sam Towns forever and ever. Elmore was a class act and needed to leave because he was going to get passed over. Sam Towns left and decided to bad mouth OU and act a fool in games.

He most certainly is.

Against Muskingum and Otterbein.

Looking around the league, might want to check out Eastern and Central Michigan. EMU has hit the portal for at least three mid-majors who were all double-digit scorers at their past schools. CMU has picked up a pair of bigs, 6-10 and 7-0, plus a past POY in Michigan, a former Wolverine PG. Also, Kent picked up another HS kid.

Tobias Bass lists Kent among his top mid-major transfer portal winners.

https://x.com/tobias_bass/status/1929284854241235070?s=46...

To recap:
Jahari Williams of Niagara
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

Rob Whaley of UNLV
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

Rayvoth Griffin of UC
https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/_/id/...

Solid coup, but I’m not sure I’d rank it as the best portal class in the MAC.

Griffith is a really nice, underrated pull, but bet the farm on him portalling again.

He could be, but I’d still put UMass’ haul over Kent’s.

According my my favorite AI Bot: Jaden out of high school had offers from
"Florida International University (FIU) - where he ultimately committed.
University of Miami - a prominent program in Florida.
University of Central Florida (UCF) - another major Florida school.
Florida Atlantic University (FAU) - also located in Florida."

Wonder what they are paying him? Maybe the money from that $450,000,000 gift ($50 mill for athletics) is beginning to trickle down to NIL payments.

He's a wing, which clearly means he's a shooter.

Looks like Miami and Akron are loading up on wings/shooters. That likely means teams must score 75-plus points a game to beat them.

Just sayin'

I don't doubt Groce's ability to recruit, but what kind of recruiting budget are they working with at AKRON? Maybe they're just taking swings on dudes via YouTube? Anyone still follow Ford? Buddy been hanging out in Serbia?

I randomly turned on Maryland-USC. I see two familiar faces. David Coit (NIU/Kansas) is with the Terrapins and Gabe Dynes (Youngstown St, saw him in the Convo) is at center for USC. They list Dynes at 7’5…he must have continued to grow. I didn’t think he was more than 7’ when we played the Penguins.
