It never ceases to amaze me that whether it's Football or Basketball that Ohio doesn't even barely make a move to recruit its legacy athletes.

Next season we'll have two legacies on the roster.

We're not going to get Fears. We didn't get his brother. And we weren't going to get Gary Trent Jr.

I'm not sure what the point is in putting real resources into it. Make a courtesy offer, and move along.

You're surprised our outreach is subpar?

Dude wasn't a legacy .. he was here 1.5 years and bounced. To Bradley. To USC-Aiken. Guess his son is a "legacy" at those places too.

Really? There was s so much baggage and tragedy in the entire saga. Wish him all the best, but glad he’s not here.

As for thinking we never reached out to Trent is silly. It’s also silly thinking he’d come here just because his father did. We went a dozen years or more as a school who distanced themselves from Gary, and if you don’t know, firing Larry did not sit well with Gary or many in that group.

Boy sure would be great to have Jeremy Fears Jr now! Be a HUGE addition to the team and University as a whole!

Exactly. We aren't talking about DJ Cooper Jr, Sonny Troutman, or Geno Ford's kids.

Yes definitely Kansas. Always Kansas.

But really if you think about it, that damn 1998 team should've gotten Larry fired.

Fears Jr in the news lately for dirty play. Some sneaky trips, shoves, etc. Izzo initially defended him but has now talked about shelving him.

If we want a dirty player to kick the other team's guard in the nuts, can't one be had for a good deal less NIL money?

Simmons or Hadaway will probably do it for us now if we really wanted.

Maybe Hadaway, but Simmons seems too much the gentle-giant type to do that on purpose.

What could have been. Could have been an all time Ohio legend if he stuck around.

maybe if larry hunter was still coach here jeremy fears kids might have considered playing here. as for gary trent junior maybe he wouldve. but gary trent junior realized he,d be better off playing for duke. duke offers the chance to get a higher quality education on and off the court. gary junior is actually more successful in the nba than his dad was.

how many players from akron will eventually make it in the NBa? as good as akron is theyll probably be eliminated in the first round of the ncaa tournament. the loss might be 20 or more.

“Higher quality education?” You really think Trent Jr chose Duke for the education? His plan was always get in and get out to the NBA. Education was not in that decision making and didn’t need to be.

I just saw on Threads today that Boals offered his next son, Jemarri Fears.

Twitter/X must truly be dying if those announcements are happening on Threads now.
