Teams with an 18-4 record: Kansas, Cleveland State, New Mexico, Ohio.

Unrelated: I wonder what Murray State's fans thought when they beat Tennessee Tech by 8 and Morehead State by 6 back-to-back.

Or what Cleveland State fans thought when they lost at home to Youngstown State or to Hofstra (8-16).

They thought they were the worst undefeated team in the country.

Really, we are complaining about being 18-4?  I admit the wins are ugly but they are WINS!!  How many would have guessed we'd be at this record now at the beginnig of the year? Come on folks, this is ridiculous.  I mean people get on here and say we will beat a team on their floor by 20 points and when we don't, but get the W, we are the worst in division 1.  Have you listened to yourself? I am proud of this team and we need to continue to support them no matter how ugly the wins are.  They are still wins!!  Get off their backs and cheer for them.  Support them instead of bashing them.  I have a feeling we will do good up in Cleveland but we still have more games to play and get ready for.  I am extremley proud and happy we are 18-4.  Better than 4-18, isn't it.

Has anyone seen St. Mary's play recently?

They only beat Portland by 8 at home. We smashed Portland on the road.

St. Mary's must be the worst 21-2 team in the country.

I'm pretty sure JSF and OUVan are just having fun with a few people.  This does lead me to ask an important question or two:

1)  When is the last time anyone on here recalls when Ohio won 18 of the first 22?

2)  When did everyone on here suddenly expect that we have to beat everyone we decided aren't that good by 15-20 in order to consider OUr team "good"?

We definitely are a "win ugly" team.  Time to embrace it.

I think we play really good defense.  Nobody has scored 70 points against Ohio since the Oakland game.  That produces an ugly game, at least on the other team's side of the floor.  We are also playing with a deeper bench.  When 9-10 different guys are seeing regular playing time, it can be hard to find the offensive groove.  I would guess the varied lineups produce awkward offensive chemistry at times.  It seems Groce has decided to prioritize defense above offense.  I'm fine with that.  If the team can ever get back to making 40% of our wide open 3's, the margin of victory will be more comfortable.

I have just accepted the fact that I will never leave the Convo early since every single game goes down to the final buzzer.  As long as we keep watching wins, I really don't care how it happens.

Conference play is almost always uglier, IMO, largely because our opponents are so familiar with us. They've played against most of OUr players in past seasons and have all kinds of tape to watch, so it's easier for them to pick the team apart and expose weaknesses.

It doesn't really matter what any teams fans think. It matters what the NCAA selection committee thinks if you don't happen to win your conference tourney.

Seriously, we could win out and if we don't win the MACC Championships we probably will not make the Big Dance.  How bad is that?  So, yes, pretty wins would be better than ugly ones but in the end only those few days in March count given how we will be perceived by the selectors!

I know no one likes to talk about or mention the NIT, but if we play well enough down the stretch, even if we lose in Cleveland we should still get an NIT bid.

The NIT is a good chance to play some marquee opponents, and maybe even get one in the Convo.

The NIT is a much larger accomplishment than the Potato Bowl is, just look at the percentages.

Unfortunately, the NIT doesn't give a rat's ass if we're any good. They will just select the most advantageous TV matchups. We have to win the regular season just to guarantee an NIT bid.

Yes I agree.  We would have a hard time winning a 4-team tourney with those other 3 teams if we play the way we have been unless, of course, they play like 18 of our opponents have.

Would rather be the worst 18-4 team in the country than the best team in the MAC West. All you can ask is to put yourself in a position to succeed in the post-season and we're doing that.

Random tidbit: We haven't started 6-2 since 2006.
