Let's face it we do not know how to win on the road.
Akron does and kudos to the coach.
Somehow Groce needs to find the magic that winning on the road requires.
I do have to give him some credit on Wed. for trying many different lineups, strategies, etc.
But, if the guys don't buy in, even the right strategy, if not executed, will not achieve the desired result.
Look at our road conference record 1-3, that's not the record of a deserving MAC Championship Team. It is also not the record of a team that you would think is 19-5 overall.
We do know how to play great D but we don't on the road.
It's the D that will win those road games, when shots are harder to make, where as it's the O that will win home games, when those same shots, that didn't fall on the road, are makes.

I don't know if it's a type of magic or just the fact that it's hard to win on the road in the conference.  The more I look at it, not too many teams have that success in the MAC during conference play.  Sure, we need to pull a couple out of our back pockets and we do, like I feel we will today.  But some teams are just hard to beat at home and we are one of them.  Toledo is too.  That is why I was worried about the game this past Wednesday.   Akron usually has the success for some reason, but they don't when they come to the Roundhouse on Richland.  We have a very talented deep team and I mean, we won six games straight before Wednesday,  Six games guys!!  We are not a team that can go too long without a loss (as much as I hate to say that).  But, remember, 19-5!!!  That is not what I expected coming into this season.  I feel we will take a W today and not because it's Eastern but that's how our team is this year.  The MAC is pretty even every season and it's just each other beating up on each other.  That's what makes the tourney so incredible to watch.

TOS teams had the same problem; maybe Hunter's too.  I don't know if they practice in the Convo but I assume they do, which would be a bad strategy for a road game.  The Convo is spacious compared to most of the crackerboxes you find in the MAC.  Instead of practicing at the Convo, a local high school gym would be better for prepping for road games.

Akron is 7-5 on the road this season, Ohio is 6-4.

Most teams play better @ home than on the road. In Akron's last two games, they crushed EMU at home by 30 and then escaped Kalamazoo in Overtime. Can't it just be that down the stretch, Akron is playing better and finding a way to win games?
