Article on bust is confusing to me

Coach and Prez talk about not tolerating the practice within athletics yet the players seem to find it is the culture of the program.

Everybody does it  and "it s easier to get pot than alcohol" is a cop out. The NCAA aint testing for EtOH.

When your upperclassmen are telling your incoming frosh who are away from p's for the first time that is the norm you got a culture that is being propogated and passed down. When guys get their Pell checks and turn that into an investment and enterprise you got problems.

SO I am confused by the coach and the athletes at TCU. Coach is amazed and hurt that athletes at Texas Christian would deal and smoke pot while the athlete is saying everyone does it because of the culture. Is it just me who finds irony and humour in the lack of mentoring and guidance coming down from the top?

THough I spent Wednesday evenings at McCabes in Dekalb and post test batteries in med school on Division Street I know I could not have juggled getting up and down a court sucking wind and tryong to perform 100% every time inside the lines, academics, the midnight munchies and watching over my shoulder for an undercover agent and be successful. Maybe these kids are so athletic AND so smart they put me to shame, hats off to them for pulling it off.

IMHO if the NCAA is randomly testing and you are not pro active with your program then you have no right to be shocked, hurt or dissapointed. Hard to effectively mete out discipline after tolerating it this far. WOnder how Coach Christian is faring in the wake of the storm.
