This will be Orr's easiest game plan of the year.
JUST PLAY THE 2-3 ZONE....GAME OVER

The game is not over if BG simply shows up and plays zone.  Not that I disagree that OUr guys will have to do better against the zone than we've generally seen so far.

I hope the O Zone lets Luke Kraus hear it for that stunt he pulled on Tommy last year.

I would. BG has been quietly getting better as the season has progressed. Won't be an easy win.

Prediction:  We come to life and win the next 4..(and the scary 2-3 zone)...BG, UNCA, Buffalo, and Akron.  Which will make losses to Toledo and EMU that much more disturbing.  DJ, Groce, and Ivo will then be out of the BobcatAttack Doghouse.  And also, by this time, Fiami is all the sudden the hot team that we don't want to see in Cleveland.

I will be very suprised if we don't see a fired up effort for this game. Coop, Stevie, and Kellog need to smother Crawford for 40 minutes.

I'll take a one-point win on a 64-foot bank shot at the buzzer, if that's what it takes.

If you're looking for somewhere to be prior to the important match with BGSU, stop on over at WG Grinders on West Union for the Green and White Club's basketball tailgate.  Things start at 5PM with a great variety of food, congenial conversation about the Cats' season and an available cash bar with incredible prices.  If you're a GWC member, it's free; for guests it's $5--a truly good price.  Hope to see you there.

I'm glad the Green and White club is holding the tailgate at Grinders. Good food and cheap beer I go there before all the games.

We're still the bookies Valintines I guess. They have us as 7.5 favorites and I'm sure they know BG plays zone.

With Kent State beating UB last night, that helps the Bobcats out a bit. Akron hosts Miami tonight and, while I would love to see an upset, I think Akron will win that one. That would make the Zips 11-1 MAC. KSU and UB are now 9-3 while the winner of the BG/OU game will move up to 8-4. No question the East has a good chance getting all 4 byes in the tourney...EMU lost last night to CMU and is now 6-6 in the MAC. Beating BG would put us in a good position with games yet to play against the Flashes and Bulls. I don't think we can catch the Zips at this point unless they totally come unglued...ain't gonna happen with Dambrodt. But, we certainly can earn the #2 seed.

I copied the above from the BG board and replaced any reference to Ohio with BG, because this is what we're playing for tonight. I, too, am cheering for Akron to beat Miami just to make sure Miami stays down. That CMU win last night was very helpful for us in keeping our distance from EMU. Mondo-important game tonight. I think both teams will play like their heads are under water.

Also, did you know there is a BGSU alumni chapter in Athens? They'll be at tonight's game. I guess several of them work for us.

Bowling Green has been a pretty good offensive rebounding team (third) in MAC play, while Ohio has not been good at keeping teams off the offensive boards (eighth). The Falcons are big up front with Cameron Black (6-10), A'uston Calhoun (6-7) and Scott Thomas (6-7) starting and Torian Oglesby (6-7) and Craig Seely (6-6) coming off the bench. Black and Oglesby really attack the offensive boards. Hopefully Baltic is fully healthy and he and the others are up for the challenge.

BG has been a high percentage shooting team in MAC play, especially inside the arc, but the Falcons are pretty good from the outside. Dee Brown is an excellent outside shooter and Thomas is pretty good. As a whole, BG struggles at the foul line, but Brown is excellent there too. Jordon Crawford is a solid free throw shooter.

Bowling Green is in the middle of the MAC defensively and has been somewhat prone to giving up offensive rebounds. The Falcons are pretty good at forcing turnovers and somewhat average at taking care of the ball.

Calhoun is the third-leading scorer in MAC play (14.9). Brown, Thomas and Crawford are all between 11-12. Crawford's 5.8 assists per game ties him for first. D.J. Cooper is tied for 10th, by the way. Thomas leads the MAC in steals (3.3).

I think the Falcons are better than their record. They haven't lost a MAC game by more than five points. This is obviously a huge game. The loser will have a tough time getting one of the four byes in the MAC tournament. The Bobcats really need this one.

Which leads to the question - why have divisions under the current format?

Preach it, bruthuh.

Who would have thought that this would turn out to be the most important game of the season??

Today, on the fence outside the door where I work, we saw a falcon (or a hawk that looks a lot like a falcon) perched for about an hour.  Good omen?

Actually, I noticed that they've drawn over 2,000 for all MAC home games except Ohio, and they were close to 2,000 that game.  They drew 4400 for Toledo.  So they are showing improvement.

A dead falcon would probably be a better omen.

And for the game against OUr team, they were aided by the 200+ Ohio fans that drove there.  I'll give you the improvement, but seriously, they have a nice shiny new gym that they should fill almost every Saturday. And they don't.  Of course they also care more about hockey up there too.

We played good for the 1st 11 minutes, we were up 24-14.
The last 9 minutes we scored 4 points BG scored 12.
We let BG right back in.
They have too be thinking they withstood our best shot.
We need to play a great 1st 7 minutes and last 7 minutes.

We did what we needed to do, play aggressive and win.
We definately handled the zone much better tonight, not to metion controlling the boards.
Great win.

To be fair, our game at BG was during their break and it was also going up against BG playing hockey against Ohio State at the same time right next door. Still can't figure out why they went head to head like that with their games.
