Agree with many posts on here.  Just one comment.  We all may be accountants, attorneys or whatever.  But many have played or watched or coached kids a ton of basketball in our lives. It is amazing to me that most everyone...but the coach...agrees this team is seriously deficient offensively and has a three point shooting team.  If he really thinks defense ONLY will get us there, i think he is mistaken.  This team needs a serious offensive adjustment and it needs it quickly.

Groce has said this team is not that good offensively. It is obvious and he admits it. Offense comes and goes and with a team like this, it's gone more often than not. However, this team is much better defensively than any past team, which it must be. The Bobcats won't win without playing good defense. In the past they could get away with playing poor defense from time to time. They didn't play well on defense Saturday and lost. I think Toledo, more than defense, allowing offensive rebounds was the issue.

Dag...I don't get you guys.  It took ten minutes to score a point and they scored less than 60.  And, you continue to say it's on the Defense.  This team  loses because it can't score.

Ohio defended for the first 10 minutes and stayed in the game. The defense got worse and Ohio never got back in the game once the offense picked up. This team is going to struggle on offense more often than not. To win, it has to play good defense, which it didn't really do. The Bobcats have won games with worse offensive performances than this one. The difference was the defense.

Won with 56 against WMU and with 59 against Ball State. Ohio has held opponents in the 50s or less 11 times. Ohio can win that way. Sure it'd be nice to score more points. But the Bobcats aren't going to beat anybody giving up 68. Ohio has scored in the 70s just once in MAC play. Doesn't mean offense isn't a problem. It is a huge, constant problem. That's why the defense can't be like it was against Eastern Michigan. And I do grant that Eastern Michigan nailed a couple of crazy tough shots, but there were a  lot of breakdowns that left guys wide open. The Eagles shot loss than 30 percent on 3s entering the game, but any team is going to hit them as open as the looks were that they got on all but a couple of them.

Saturday was Eastern Michigan's best offensive performance of the season. The offense was poor as well, but we have won performing at that level (we had 0.863 offensive points per possession against Eastern; we had 0.847 in the win against Buffalo). We allowed 1.103 defensive points per possession in Ypsilanti and have not won a game allowing that much.

Today's practice started about 42 minutes ago (2:30).  I suspect that by now at least four players have been screamed at for putting the ball on the floor and driving to the hoop rather than settling for a low-percentage 3-pointer.  Sadly, I'm probably not wrong based on what I have heard from a few who are close to the program.

I've been to several practices and never witnessed anything like that.
