I noticed Edwards' name is nowhere to be found in the boxscore of Miami's game on Saturday. Anybody know what's up?

Pretty easy to google right outta the Dayton Daily News

Edwards sidelined: Miami’s transfer from Penn State, sophomore forward Bill Edwards, is out indefinitely with an injured wrist which has bothered him all season.

Edwards had played in all of Miami’s first seven games, starting four. He scored a total of 35 points in the first two, but has not scored in the RedHawks’ last three contests.

Hmm. I wonder if he's injured or "injured."

Charlie said last week he got fooled by the first two games when Edwards put up big numbers. Doesn't sound like a very good fit.

While I don't expect it, nothing would add to the Gary Trent day like dropping a whippin' on the Redhawks.

Not that anyone expected Miami to beat THE, but the deadhawks managed just 0.62 O-PPP. They had an effective field goal percentage of 34.8 and an assist-to-turnover ratio of 0.3.

Sounds like Bill Edwards wrist may sideline him the rest of the year.  Apparently it happened while he was practicing how to flip up that collar.  He ended up twisting it awkwardly after catching it in the sweater tied around his neck.  Tough break.

Well, Edwards is from Middletown (locals call it Middlepit), so that makes it less likely that he got hurt flipping through The Economist or pleasuring himself to photos of the Duchess of Cambridge or the J.Crew catalog.

Bill Gross is from M-Town :) But you're right, in general it's a lot more blue collar, than popped-collar.

(Lol who calls it Middlepit? Methinks you made that up. Heard lots, but never that.)

While we're on the Middletown/Miami topic, here's a nice article on Charlie Coles and his role as grandpa I found in the paper over Christmas. Nice read.

http://www.middletownjournal.com/middletown-sports/miami-university-redhawks/archdeacon-grandchildren-help-turn-coachs-scowls-into-smiles-1304019.html

Also, not that this will help Putnam's opinion of Middletown any, but Miami's Allen Roberts is from MHS as well. I think he's more of the troublemaker, whereas Edwards was just one where hoops isn't the #1 priority in his life (a la Steve Coleman or A. Kellogg)

OSU can make a good team look bad, but I'll have to say that Miami looked particularly pathetic in that game.  Embarrassing.

I swear someone from there called it that to my face in the 1980s. It might have just been slang among a few pimply summer camp kids, though.

No beef with Middletown at all. Read my other posts and see I'm the opposite of a snob about geography. I was there a year or two ago and only noticed a rather dead downtown. No different than thousands of other places. There was some cool, old architecture - I do remember that.

For the young 'uns on here - there is some very cool Bball history in Middletown. I remember gazing at Jerry Lucas' tennis shoes next to the 2 state championship trophys when there to see a game when I was a kid.

Middletown, and it's SW Ohio rust belt twin Hamilton, have strong sports heritages - always the scrappy underdog's to the more attention getting schools in the bigger Ohio cities.

That's hysterical.   My brother bought a T-shirt about 20 years ago with the University of Miami colors but with Miami University's seal.

Yes, Middletown is hurting. Downtown has been rough longer than the rest of the city, but it's 'down' for sure. But yes, there are some nice looking, old buildings & churches down there.

If anyone is familiar with the downtown area(not sure why you would be, but anyway), if you haven't been to the City Center Mart area, parts of it have been razed, and it is unrecognizable. Streets are now where mall area used to be, and most stores gone, but a couple stores(once indoor, in the mall), are now outdoors. Odd.

And they broke Toledo's impressive MAC road losing streak tonight.

Give JSF a lot of credit. He saw this season coming for Miami and everybody said no way. Spot on!

All respect to Dragon for calling this,  but a lot more has transpired to further drag that team down since he origianlly posted....and yet, they played us to the wire and lost by one tonite, With under 10 secsthey hadthe ball and a  a chance to win. One has to wonder if Charlie gets someone to step up and a lucky break or 2 what is possible come tourney time. I won't be foolish enough to bet against him.

I think Dragon was guessing something else would go wrong and that they were on the edge of a horrendous season.  Charlie is an excellent coach and will help keep them in some games, but losing to Toledo at home, last shot or not, that's not good.  Anything can happen, but this has been a very bad season for them and Dragon called it.

Their board has gone ballistic because of this season and well they should.

Charlie may be down, but I wouldn't count him out just yet. Seems we had a really, really, really, really, really, really hard time winning against him Saturday and we had EVERY advantage possible in that one. Yea, he's playing now for a ticket to Cleveland, but aren't we all?

I think I said something along those lines, but man, it's been just incredible to watch. I didn't think we'd ever see a Miami team this far down. Oh well!

It makes up for last year when I kept insisting they were much worse than their record and they kept finding ways to win.

Miami went the entire first half without scoring a two-point basket. They were only down one at the half because they were out of their minds from three.
