I don't like.  Which means that you probably do.

Dunks.  Thank you Martell Webster and the rest of you who'd rather dunk than win, than hone the skills that win.

Tweet.  Heard today about the study that said twits reinforce existing social networks but don't create many new connections.  Yeah, some smallllll % of twits have value.  But nothing that couldn't wait for something less immediate.

Don't hate me.  Hate the bad thoughts that you make enter my skull.

Dunks are the highest percentage shot in basketball. If you have the ability, why not throw it down? Makes no sense not to.

And people who hate on Twitter have no idea how to use it effectively to meet your needs/wants. To hate it is fine, but to say it is useless is just ignorant. I have gotten an internship offer with a premier sports publication because of my tweets.

Well, at least you were right in your thoughts on what others would think.

I agree wholeheartedly Monroe Slavin. Pretty one dimensional skill and without the drop step, footwork and ball skills dunking is a bad choice to hang your hat on....just sayin?

On the subject of Twitter. The report is pretty interesting when tracking interpersonal relationships. The State Department makes use of it. That may be of value in your world. More than just one side of the story to look at. As much as I love Inskeep there is more to it than reducing it to an airline hub map.

No one here hates the thoughts entering your skull. Personally, I love the left coast stuff. Takes all types.

I'm guessing you prefer a telegram over a phone call too?

Got a good laugh out of this.  I'm not sure what the dislike for Twitter is.  Personally, 95% of the reason I use it is to talk sports, and get my sports news.  It's effectively my morning paper.  I don't look at it to further relationships, or have in depth conversations.  I'm curious about the thoughts of others on this?

I'm sure Martell would rather win than get a dunk. He clearly lost track of the score or the time remaining. If you can easily get above the rim, a dunk is a very high percentage shot. I remember hearing about Dustin Ford screaming at Devaughn to dunk after a missed layup in a game. And do you honestly think serious basketball players who get serious minutes work more on dunks than jump shooting, ball handling, and rebounding? Come on, son.

This must make you cringe:

I remember Dick Gibbs missing an easy layup for the Bullets against Golden State in 1974 that would have won the game.  Instead the Warriors won in 4 straight.     I hate layups.

Dagnabit, I'm so sick and tired of folks today using them email machines to done cyber chat about sports. What happened to the days when us menfolk would go to the general store, play us some checkers and talk sports.

Oh them was the days - we'd talk about big manz, countdowns to football season and complain about them folks who gots nothing better to do then complains about they schedules and whatnots.

Oh we'd fuss and holler until it was time to git home to see what the wife cooked. Woman, you better have supper on the table or you'll get the belt! Boy howdy!

Though I did hear one fella in church say you can use them email machines to see them chorus girl types without their britches.

First Street, that is very funny! Chorus girls without their britches- still laughing!

I'm a middle aged kind of guy and my first take on twitter was that is was useless. I signed up for it and am following a few people and trying to figure out it's usefulness to me. I'm starting to get the hang of it and may even use it in my business. Bottom line is that  others around you are using it and you want to communicate the way they want to communicate.

I'm a late to the technology party guy as well (for evidence see my enlightening debate over the usefulness of ESPN3 with Andrew Ruck earlier this month). I have a Facebook page but only check it about once every six months. Don't have a twitter account and don't follow anyone but I understand why it appeals to so many.  I just figure i won't get involved until it becomes passe.

Nothing wrong with a dunk at appropriate moment.  But to not know the score, to throw it down with mere seconds to go on a breakaway when your team is down 3--that's what people get for prizing dunk over skills.

I live (have a life); therefore, I don't twit.  I invest.

Counter-argument:  I exist on bobattack.

I do not like persons who don't put defense first.

I don't like dunks.  Or the three-point shot.  Real basketball does not have 3-pointers.

I would propose that the higher number of dunks we have in a game has a very high correlative relation to the probablility of a win - so dunk away - and tweet away w/the bragadaccio and kudos post dunk-o-rama.....

Another thing I hate is that games take soooo long now.  Baseball, football, basketball.  i swear all games are 30-40 minutes longer on average than a decade or so ago.  So, we miss the first 4+ minutes of tonight's thrashing of 'kron.
