But I will be cheering for Miami tonight to beat Kent and give them the record of 9-4.  And after we beat Buffalo tomorrow night, all three of us will be tied at 9-4.  Then  we most likely will have a chance at no lower than a fourth seed for the upcoming "greatest tourney in conference college basketball".

I don't think there is anything wrong cheering against Kent so we get closer to at least a single bye.

Maybe I'm alone, but when it comes to basketball season, Miami does not rank among the most "hated" teams in my book.  Akron takes the top of the chart on that one.

The way I see it, at worst, we want to sneak into the 3rd seed, which keeps us from playing Akron til Saturday.  Of course the ideal is that #2 seed.

You are not alone, OU Country.  I hate Akron much more than Miami.  I have had several bad encounters with zip fans.  I hate Miami by default, but have never really had any fans go out of their way to be jerks to me.

Akron is a safety school. I don't respect Akron anymore than my toe nails.

Miami is someone I respect enough to hate.

Bowling Green is a safety school. Akron is a "I slept through my SAT, but still want to go to college" school.

I understand the disdain for Akron but this one isn't even close.

I have to agree with the statements on hating Akron moreso than Fiami.  Still, neither hold a candle to my disdain toward Marshall.

I'll be rooting for M!@#! tonight too.

I hate Akron so much, I didn't even root for them in NCAA tournament.

I was rooting for them.

In fact, I had them beating Notre Dame in my bracket just because it was a MAC/Big East First Round game.  It ruined my nearly perfect regional bracket, you know, the one with the 1/10/11/12 teams making it to the Sweet Sixteen.  The only 2 games I missed in that bracket were the Kansas/VCU Regional Final game and the First Round game between Akron/Notre Dame.

Nope.  Not this guy.

It's 3:52, the odds I go to my 4:10 Finance class are slim (it's only review day for our exam Thursday anyway), and M!&%! still sucks.

Jughead, that should give you even more incentive to hate them now.

I know I should always root for conference when playing out of conference, but when Akron is involved I just. cannot. do. it.

I dunna know guys about Akron.  Yes, the fans are jerks (about got into a fight with some bitches husband) but the couple years ago at Cleveland, I saw the team at the mall and even though they saw my OU gear on, they were pretty cool and we chatted for several minutes.  Sure we gave jabs at each other's school but overall, not a bad bunch of guys (and their cheerleaders were something to look at too).

I don't really think there's anybody who would argue that ALL of Akron's fans give them a bad experience.  But the bad ones are often enough to ruin the whole fan base for you.

I'm in on this as well.  I couldn't root for them either, and I ALWAYS root for the MAC out of conference.  I will admit I was glad to see them take down Miss St/Ole Miss in December just for the sake of the conference RPI.  I don't think I'll ever openly cheer for them.

+1.

We got beer thrown on us on the way to the stadium and I almost got into a fight with Marshall football fans at halftime. Let me just point out the fact that this particular game was in Athens..... I imagine their basketball fans are something classy too.

I'll root for anyone who can help the Cats with a win.  Tonight, it's Fiami.  Tomorrow night, I'm torn between Akron and BGSUcks.  I'd like the Zippos to lose so the Cats can draw a game closer with a win at Buffalo.  But I'd also like BGSUcks to lose so the Cats can have some breathing room for one of the top four slots.

But most of all, I want Ohio to just win out -- through the regular season, the MAC tourney and the NCAA.  Not asking much.

Back in the days that the Convo was still a new facility and Marshall was still in the Conference their fans would come in to Athens and behave in the most abominable way.  Every time they'd come to town the maintenance crew would find tobacco juice spit all over the place and the seats slashed open with the stuffing torn out in the sections assigned to their "fans".  From what I heard at the time this is one of the reasons they got the boot from the MAC.

A former roommate of mine (currently on bobcatattack, but he'll remain nameless) once almost got into a fight with a pack of Marshall football fans while walking to Pedan Stadium on game day. They were ~8th or 9th graders. And female.

If they were Marshall fans and in the 8th or 9th grade, they were at least 18, so that is fine.
