I ran some numbers on the Pick Em game to see how each fan base's predicted win percentage of their own team compares to what non-fans of that team predicted, in order to determine which fan bases are most biased.
Team - Fans W/L (Non-Fans W/L) - Bias
Buffalo - .832 (.598) = + .234
Northern - .265 (.069) = + .197
Miami - .586 (.395) = + .191
Akron - .961 (.774) = + .187
Kent St - .930 (.770) = + .160
Toledo - .370 (.230) = + .140
Ball St - .696 (.557) = + .139
Central - .435 (.299) = + .136
Western - .674 (.567) = + .107
Ohio - .891 (.796) = + .095
BGSU - .418 (.384) = + .036
Eastern - .357 (.428) = - .071
As it turns out...We are some of the least delusional fans in the conference. Somewhat comical sidebar...Eastern has so few fans participating that their numbers aren't really valid. Also interesting to note that when you take fan bias out of the equation, we have been the most respected team in the conference this year with a higher predicted W/L pct than even Akron.
Also...I am not even remotely surprised by the top spot on the list and I would guess that if I ran the numbers back several years, UB would be at or near the top every year.
Thanks - very interesting. Being an NIU fan must really suck - can you imagine picking that poor a performance for your own team?
