OU: 5,732
Toledo: 4,533

I guess, I'm kind of surprised. Considering the down year, nobody else is generally close. Ball State is at least 3.2K, Buffalo 2.8K.

OU plays in a cavern and that awful camera angle never helps the perception for the TV crowd, so 6K ends up looking like just friends and family.

Extremely interesting to walk through some of these other numbers (includes D2 + D3).

- Creighton is 6th in attendance.

- More people went to my HS than go to Kent State games.

- UD has higher attendance than OSU.

- MARIETTA COLLEGE has a larger crowd than Miami.

Less people going to the Kent games really surprises me - just shows how their culture of campus is different from others in the MAC - when I went - student bleachers on one side were barely even full, the other half full. Further proves we really are the best fans IN THE MAC!

Also, are these stats from 2021-22? Says so in the page title.

I'm a season ticket holder at Marietta along with Ohio. Marietta's attendance is down a little this year, and last year there were mistakes that undercounted attendance. But normally, they average about 1,300. Last weekend, there were at least three OAC games with attendance over 1,000, and I think Mount Union had over 1,800. John Carroll had a full house for Wednesday's game vs. Mount Union.

No conference school supports basketball like Ohio University. It was interesting to see that the Bobcats played 17 games in the Convo and no other league school played 17 home games. Some conference schools played 14 or less home games.

I will wager that Flashes attendance starts averaging higher now that students are back and the Zips and Bobcats come to town.

Decent crowd by KSU standards tonight for nationally televised game (ESPNU). However, one channel away on SpectrumTV (ESPN2) and about an hour east on I-76, YSU has a soldout Beeghly Center for the Penguins game tonight.

3,000 in the building last night for Kent. 9:00 start or not, that's putrid for that quality of team.

That YSU game was fun.

Impressive crowd for YSU at 9PM. Announcers said it was a sell-out or near sell-out. 6K.

JT was also in the building. (Maybe his last game as President?)

As for Kent, it's been said... but a consistently pathetic showing.

Though I'm often envious of those smaller arenas where 5K-6K sounds and feels like a playoff atmosphere and 3K looks like a decent crowd.

OU has 3K in the building and you could hear a mouse fart echo in the Rohr Room.

Somebody else please take this one. Please.

How on earth do you think they pay some of the bills?

You think players like playing with no one in the audience?

Recruiting?

Home court advantage?

.....

I hate it here.

You're kind of new here, MDWST. JSF is one of the more fascinating people I know...this is the type of contrarian hot take he used to regularly bring to the table.

That's pretty horrible for the caliber of team they have - saw Rowdies section had only one full row and a few other students speckled throughout the section.

Given the reaction, I had to go back and make sure I wrote what I thought I wrote. I don’t see a hot take in there at all, let alone anything that would flabber one’s gast. There are people who are way too concerned about attendance. Ever go to the MAC board or talk to a Marshall fan? They seem to care more about attendance than the actual games.

Just think those are our attendance numbers before the students returned. They will really be up there by the end of the season.

Of course what should be a huge attendance day having Miami on a Saturday will really suck with both teams being also-rans this year.

A wise man once said "winning cures all ills." Put a good team on the floor and people will come watch it. This isn't new.
