After this week's split in Ohio's 2-game homestand v. two of the MAC's better teams, we can all look forward to Friday's CBSSN game between those two teams. Of particular interest will be the backcourt matchup of BSU's Coleman and Jacobs against Kent's Carry and Jacobs.

Well it did indeed come down to the last possession and Vegas proves their brilliance yet again.

Kent is good, and I don't agree with some that say Kent played one of their worst games...I thought they played well. They truly are a smothering defense and above all else, they just do not have weak spots. Top to bottom in their rotation is useful and dependable. That's what makes them great. I am surprised Miami was able to keep it close against them, but I also don't think they're the type of team to completely blow teams out either. They'd be a dangerous March team. I expect they will get top 25 votes this week.

AJ Brown is slumping in MAC play. 9 for 36 from the field...he is a better shooter than that. I still expect him to catch fire because the scoring skills are obviously there.

EJ looks like he was let out of a shotgun every time he comes in the game. Appreciate the aggression but it's usually reckless. Need to put a leash on him and slow him down to play smarter.

Wiz is really frustrating, if you deny it you're just being overly hopeful and positive. He looks like a basketball version of a golfer with the yips. Very soft unreliable hands, clumsy footwork, tons of mistakes, bad body language. Anyone have the +/- from the game of Wiz vs DW so we can laugh/cry at it?

I converted to a student for the break so was right on the court...DW definitely has fatigue issues, you can see it in his face. I just wish we had a serviceable way to rotate him in and out without a giant cliff in production and reliability. What would our MAC record be if we had 40 minutes of a non-tired DW each game?

I said at the beginning of the season that outside shooting would keep us from being at the top of the MAC and I still maintain that belief. We need guys like the AJB, B-Rod, Hunter to hit from outside at a higher rate or we're just gonna struggle to put opponents away.

Having said all that, if we are headed to 1-4 after the schedule we have played I won't be disgusted and hopeless on this team. If we win and sit at 2-3 I'll be more than content. Its been a tough schedule...the key will be if we can get them back when we hit the weaker part of the schedule.

Agree with a lot of what you said. I think we likely will start 1-4 but I'm not panicking. Many saw the schedule and predicted this. It gets MUCH easier after Toledo. Torvik and others still predicting us to finish between 10-8 or 12-6 in MAC play. That would likely put us somewhere in the 4/5 seed range and sounds right to me.

If I had to bet I'd split the middle and say 11-7. That would put us 19-12 going to Cleveland. Say we win one and then lose to Kent is semis. 20-13 final record.

Gabe has been useless tonight. If we want a one big look when Dwight's on the bench, put Clayton in and maybe he'll at least knock in a three.
I pondered this exact thought a lot during the Kent game. Seriously, why not rotate Wilson/Clayton? G-Wiz may be 6'11 but he plays more like 6'5. Clayton may be slightly smaller, but is more athletic and substantially better with the ball than Gabe. What is the real negative to it, given what we are getting from Gabe in the rotation with Dwight?

Exactly...I mean what do we have to lose subbing in Clayton for Wilson. You give DWIII his 2-3 minutes of rest and then bring him back in and then you have the option of continuing to keep Clayton and DWIII on the court at the same time.

It can't be worse in terms of production with Clayton over The Whiz in that spot. Being nearly 7 feet tall should never automatically get you on the court. I mean you still have to show you can catch the ball and move your feet and not commit two moving screens per game. Mix it up...try something else. We have zero to lose trying to go smaller when Wilson gets his rest.

Clayton's offensive skills are on the perimeter.

Not disagreeing. But my favorite Clayton play in OUr win over Ball St. had nothing to do with his 4 of 7 shooting from behind the 3-pt line. Rather, it was a bucket he had off an offensive rebound at a crucial time in the 2nd half.

I think Clayton is capable of more of this type of play. I know the Bobcats are in need of someone other than DWIII providing this.

Correct and yes we'll have a smaller lineup. But we have to ask ourselves this. Do we have a better chance of something positive happening with Clayton on the floor than the Whiz when DWIII needs a rest? The answer is a resounding yes.

Kent with 8 votes in the new AP poll good for 36th. Not a super easy week, @ Eastern and home vs BSU. If they do well I bet they'll get pretty close to ranked.

#18-College of Charleston
#24-Florida Atlantic
#36-Kent (8 votes like Andrew mentioned)

2 legitimate mid-majors in the top 25 (not counting Gonzaga) at the same time. Does anyone remember the last time this happened?

Great to see and I'm jealous.

Assuming you mean before this season, March 2022, Saint Mary's and Murray State.
