Can we stop the battle of the states crap that is nothing other than undertones of the OSU/UM college rivalry?  Other than their football game, and which state got stuck with Toledo, why is this an issue?  If it were such a huge issue, our ignorant students organizing a pond jump would do it before every game that Ohio was playing against Eastern, Western and Central.  After all, they are schools from Michigan and their collective enrollments are double that of the University of Michigan.  There are no rivalries between Ohio University and the University of Michigan.

I actually think pretty highly of Michigan.  They have a wonderful academic reputation and their football and basketball programs have regularly been nationally ranked.  Beilein is a great coach.  He did a nice job at WVU and runs a good program.

I only think of Michigan as a place we go for the conference football championship game at Ford Field and an occasional trip for a cross-divisional match up.  For a few days, I will be intrigued by their basketball team, then it will be back to complete indifference.

This has been a rough week for me because I love both of these teams. I'll be behind the Bobcats tomorrow 100% but it's hasn't been fun watching my two favorite fan bases at each other all week. I'll be happy when the game is over tomorrow and we can get back to being at Temple's throat.

For the most part it's been pretty cordial.  I agree with the original poster.  I could care less about any rivalry between the two states because it has nothing to do with us.   Michigan =  Missouri = Colorado as far as I'm concerned.

I'm all for the state rivalry talk.  Does it kind of play off of OSU's rivalry with Michigan? Probably.  But at least it's getting people talking about us and it's getting our name out there, both of which are not bad things.  If it gets all of the Ohio State fans across the state and country pulling for us, I'm okay with that.  We're going to pick up more fans and supporters because we're playing Michigan, and I'm perfectly okay with that.

We here know who we are and what we're about. Let everyone else jump on our bandwagon now and they'll figure it out soon enough.

That is all true. It's a great school. But their coaches are both kind of acting like dicks when they can't figure out our name. I don't hate Michigan. But I could.
