What a shame.  I hope we see Goard again in a Cat uniform.  I am really excited about his potential.  If he leaves, good luck to him but also he should know that it is a huge mistake to leave OU and Athens.  Best place on earth.  what a great opportunity to throw away.

This is a shame. I hope the situation turns out to be less than the rumor mill is making it out to be... I think Tyquane has a lot of potential and I want him on the team.

I don't believe it is official yet but Jason Arkley is generally pretty accurate.  This isn't a huge deal for the game on Friday because Goard was used sparingly but there are certain situations that he is valuable such as important inbounds plays.   He's also good to have when we face teams that have dominating post presences because we can keep rotating bodies at them.   The real worry about this is long-term IMO.  I think he's got a big upside. Let's hope this is just a temporary set back.

If he wasn't handling his academic responsibilities, he should have been held back from Cleveland.  And if he and/or his parents had issues with that punishment, they need to rethink their priorities, either in Athens or elsewhere.

At this point I think it's safe to say...I wish Goard well with his future endeavors.  He was a good player.  Sometimes things just don't mesh and work out.  Nothing personal.

Welcome Kadeem Green, onward, upward.

If Goard has actually played his final game as a Bobcat, I see this as an opportunity for the coaching staff to go out and upgrade our frontline in terms of talent and size.

Good luck to him in the future, and I don't mean that as a cookie-cutter thing to say when somebody leaves.  It is easy to forget sometimes that these are kids leaving home and going through everything that entails as well as basketball, and sometimes it just isn't a good fit.

Sorry to see him go. Good luck to him in the future (so long as he's not tipping off against OHIO  )

I'm sure he wouldn't leave without completing all of his exams!

Still confused by this thread.  Do we actually know why he is leaving?

Tomorrow is Thursday. It is highly likely his exams would be finished.

I will never understand this kind of baseless bashing of our own.

Boy, I just don't like this.  It bothers me.  Me thinks leaving the kid in Athens for the MAC tourney backfired big time.

Oh well.  Not everyone plays and not everyone stays.  That's division I sports nowadays.

This whole situation really sucks...I was actually thinking about Goard when I watched the team celebrate in Cleveland.  I understand not playing him in the tourney, but It really sucks that he was not able to celebrate with his teammates after a long freshman season.  I like that coach is holding players accountable, but it seems like something could be worked out (maybe have him doing school work with a tutor during the day before games), especially since it seems that he was still academically eligible.

If a kid is going to quit because of that can you really trust him down the line?   I agree with others though. Before we make any judgements the facts need to come out.  Or maybe they don't need to come out and we don't need to judge. We tend to view these kinds of things in a very self centered way.  We want him to help our team but in the end helping our team may not be what's best for him.  This may not be the best decision for him but guess what? It actually might be a great decision for all we know. Just wish him the best and hope he finds a situation that he can flourish in.

Nice commentary OU Van.  Really nice.  After the season ends, I'd guess more "official" commentary will come out.  Selfishly, I wish there were better timing though.
