While I wish all the talking heads would take Michigan and let the players of both teams hear it throughout the week, I must admit it was more than cool to just listen to Mike Golic take OHIO all the way until the Sweet 16, eventually bowing out vs. UNC.  And right before that, listening Fran Fraschilla on that show give all his reasons as to why "if you're looking for a #13 to take, look at OHIO."  Then he went on about Nick & Walter.

From obscurity to seeing/hearing your name on every sports show in America all in the course of one week.

I don't mind being trendy as long as no one calls us the It Team.

On top of that - and very surprised I haven't seen mention of it - OHIO made weekend update on SNL last week, but not for hoops. The student with a hot tub got a snark from Seth Meyers.

We were considered pretty cool after we took Georgetown behind the woodshed in 2010.

Exactly what worries me.  I'd rather fly under the radar as long as possible.  I can hear the talk in the UM locker room now:  "Everyone thinks you're going to lose this game; everyone thinks you have no chance"  Let's shown 'em"

I don't like it.  No, sir. Not one bit.

We are entering the promised land of respect.  The Georgetown butt-kicking put us on the map.  Ohio has made the dance now 2 of the last 3 years.  There is no more "who are these guys?" - its more like "look out for these guys!".  I think Ohio effectively flew under the radar all year long.  Our bad losses kept our RPI high and enabled a #13 seed.  With a few more wins that seed would have been even higher.  This will be a tough game against an opponent who typically does not lose in the first round.  If Ohio wins this one - expect more respect.   Not everyone expects us to win on Friday, but unlike 2010 we have picked up some believers.   Go Ohio!

I just like this matchup

I have a Yahoo bracket and an ESPN Bracket and in both I have us beating Michigan. Had a hard time pulling the Trigger though against our friends in Philly........they employ a 3 guard set just like we do but they have more length.......

Friday night is going to be a helluva game.........

So you say putting ball in hoop is important?

Brilliant! :)

All of these talking heads have nothing to do whether or not OHIO wins or loses on Friday. Beating Georgetown means OHIO won't fly under the radar. Gonzaga was that way for a year or two until it started to win consistently. After going to the tournament 3-4 years in a row, everybody expected them to win NCAA games consistently.

Don't we want people talking about OHIO possibly winning these games?  It means that OHIO is becoming a PROGRAM and isn't this what we all want?

Believe in Green!

PS I'm just glad Greeney knew it was OHIO and not OHIO State. He closed the show by saying Kansas is playing Southen Miss and we all know that Bill Self has struggled in first-round games. UMMM...Greeney...that is Kansas State vs Southern Miss. Horrible that nobody corrected him...he truly believes Kansas is playing Southern Miss.

"You've got to SCORE the ball..."

BTW, I think this is the dumbest comment made by announcers

Slow down...It's not like we are everyone's pick.  Maybe this is too simple of an outlook but a big reason we caught Georgetown by surprise more was because we were a 14 seed in a 65 team field and now we are a 13 seed in a 68 team field.  But I would say 90% of the brackets out there still have Michigan penciled in.  I just cliicked thru 40 MLB player brackets that MLB.com posted and only one (Ryan Zimmerman) had Ohio winning.

FearLeon...yes, I would rather fly under the radar!  Georgetown took us for granted and we snuck up on them.  This year, so many people are saying that we can win that I am sure Michigan will come out really focused and taking nothing for granted.  This just makes it a bit more difficult for us.  I do like the fact that they aren't big and physical but this is still a very tough match up for us.

All 8 experts on CBS.com picked Michigan.

I don't buy into the "sneaking up" theory.  If Georgetown was a superior team, they would have been able to fight back.

If you start a game by punching your opponent in the face with a 10-0 run the sneak attack is over at the first time out.  A tough team will clamp down on D, and battle back after that time out. Georgetown wasn't tough or talented enough to stop us that night.

I agree.  And the way DJ and Armon were running around them I'm not sure they were ever going to be able to stop us.  Watching Austin Freeman trying to keep up with our guys was comical.  That one play where DJ pump faked and stepped around him was great.  I can still hear the sound of the iceberg scaping against his side as he floated by.

good to hear the comments from coach fran.  as far as mike and mike are concerned, if the subject is anything other than NFL football, they have absolutely no idea--NONE--what they're talking about (with a mild exception for Notre Dame in Golic's case).  Most of their babbling is nothing more than filler between commercial breaks.

And as others have noted, none of what's said or printed in the media will have anything to do with what happens on the court friday nite.

To be fair, that's all any content is.  The goal of any show is to attract eyeballs for the ads.

We beat Georgetown because we had an unconscious shooting performance that lasted the full 40 minutes. Nothing more, nothing less.

And we had an unconscious shooting night because they were extremely slow on rotations and we passed the ball really well.   And just for clarification they shot the ball really well also.  But we didn't turn it over nearly as often as they did.
