I've always been a fan of Reghi. He's a long-time, knowledgeable ambassador for the MAC.
There will be no Reghi slander on my watch.

He's enthusiastic about the games, he's good at it, he's prepared, he's knowledgable, he knows a number of these coaches, he knows the teams...

Also, hell of a game by OU. This is the team I expected to see with Hunter and DW3 leading the way. Complimentary games by all.

I hate to say, given the source, but I’m in total agreement with this comment. Give me Reghi any day over the two clowns we had last night. Wolf was by far the worst of the two.

What a performance. First, hats off to The Whiz. Talk about stepping up when we needed him the most. Really hope this is a turning point for him. He frustrated Freeman and made him work. He had to play a ton of minutes for Wilson in first half and didn't get tired. He grabbed key rebounds. Now if the coaching staff could teach him to set a legal screen then I will get more excited. Keep it up Whiz.

Hunter's numbers are insane these last seven games. I'm actually now starting to get scared if he keeps this up that he'll join his dad at Indiana. OK...I need to get that thought out of my head...haha. The rest of the team is feeding off his confidence.

Elmore is a grown man. I'll say it every game. I think he'll be All-MAC before his career is done at Ohio. Let's keep that Chet Mason pipeline going out of Cleveland Brush.

This was a must win. We could not go into the MAC tourney without a win against one of the big 3. And now the Bobcats have a chance to rip off a bunch of W's. If we can beat Buffalo on Tuesday, the excitement level is going to amp up the rest of the way.

I am with you. Reghi is the MAC. He treats every game like it's huge. I'll also never forget drinking a few beers with him at the Cats Eye as a student after an Ohio game....the Lewis Geter era. He enjoyed talking with the coeds on Court Street....hahaha...Reghi is a gem.

Was texting one of my Ohio buddies and I asked him if Wolf was drunk??? Wolf was in amazement that Wilson was taken out of the game at the first TV timeout. I mean...has he not watched what Boals has done all year with Wilson? That's just so poor in not doing your research.

My other favorite line was....."For Ohio to beat Akron, they need to outscore them." Thanks Steve.

Mark Turgeon did the Ohio-Kent game a few weeks back and has called far less MAC games than Wolf. And Turgeon prepared and knew way more about Ohio and the MAC than Wolf. It was an embarrassing effort out of Wolf last night....he didn't even try.

Crap, now that thought is in my head haha. Totally forgot Jaylin’s dad is at Indiana. I guess we’ll cross that bridge if we get there. Hopefully, he’s seeing the examples of the grass isn’t always greener with the move up. All said, he’s playing like Boals and co. developed another elite PG.

Agreed on the Whiz comments. He was a huge factor last night. Elmore could be All-MAC as early as next season. Dwight should reclassify as “DJ Wilson” and maybe we can get another season out of him (dad jokes).

Clayton got a slight uptick to 11 minutes. I noticed he spent more time inside the perimeter and didn’t attempt a 3 for the 2nd straight game. I think that will continue to be a situation to monitor.

Keep that train the rolling, glad to have AJB back.

I think DJ Wilson is a clone made by combining strategic parts of the DNA of DJ Cooper and DWIII, and developed in the biotech labs at The Ohio University. I believe using him next year will be legal in this era of NIL, because many nationallly brands will be vying for his endorsements! ;-)

10 of 16 from 3, are you kidding me??? I said from the beginning that I did not think we had the outside shooting to be at the top of the MAC. But we have FOUR shooters up over 40% on the year, and that doesn't include AJ Brown who I think will settle into that type of shooter. Roderick has the stroke going again and Miles & Jaylin are simply just shooting better than they have in their 3 years prior. They look real smooth firing right now.

Roderick was a sniper on defense, 3 very good steals. Wiz disrupted Freeman well, only one illegal screen is a win and no fumbled rebounds. That run in the 2nd half was awesome. Always good when that vein pops out of coach Groce's head.

A 7 game win streak is there for the taking. Many of us predicted this from the get-go with the nature of our frontloaded schedule. It won't be easy to get thru these 4 but it'd be very exciting to be 10-6 heading into Kent.

We got solid minutes from both Brod and Wiz tonight. Not sure if the data proves this out, but we certainly look like a better team when Brod is on the floor. Just a smart player and his 2-3 from 3 was huge for us. Wiz played really well for "DJ" Wilson after he had to hit the bench with his 2nd foul. Nice defensive presence and didn't cost us on the offensive end, even though that moving screen foul he picked up was marginal at best. When these two guys are playing well, I like our chances.
I sat behind the 2nd half Akron basket and Brod’s defense was mostly fantastic snd I believe he keyed the rally out to 18 points.

wiznitzer was playing a VERY good game when he was in there running the court and his hustle stick back on a break in the first half was D1 quality. He worked over Freeman as much as he could and stepped out to help the guards without Freeman burning him. He helped Groce and Ford lose their monds when playing tough D on the flopping Freeman who took one in the eye when his head was traveling to the hardwood.

My first time to see the Hardwood House—nice use of that area!

Nice to see the Bobcats open an 18 point lead on a team that is predicted by the experts to make a lot of noise this year at the Dance. Bull, Holy Toledo, Kent let that happen OHIO..
I refuse to pay for the government monopoly that is cable so I sometimes* go through improper channels online to find a stream. Assuming I cannot, I listen to Russ & Rob and I pull up the Live Stats link.

I mention this as I was travelling this weekend which made it more of an effort to go through my usual channels (plus Russ & Rob are enjoyable to listen to) BUT about those live stats... I just discovered there is an "analytics" tab hidden in there with some nifty stats. Sure enough, Brod was FAR AND AWAY the leader in possessions on the court where Akron did not score. Wiz was either 2nd or 3rd.

There is more to these two guys than meets the eyes. And with Wiz especially, I think that is true on the offensive end as well. Should Brod ever get going offensively, lookout.

*regularly, at this point I should really just steal cable

What I have been saying about Brod and Wiz this year to others - they contribute in areas that really aren't statistics. Good defense and like what TO says, if Brod continues heating up offensively - oh man we might be in for a great run to the tourney. I think with more time this year and summer Wiz will definitely get better. We should then have Ezuma back next year though if he isn't up to snuff.

What have we seen from Ezuma that shows us that he is up to snuff? In fact, is it possible that Wiz is more up to snuff than Ezuma?

From what I remember from seeing him almost all home games during 21-22, He was a bit of bowling ball defensively with racking up fouls but he could really be a decent player in the paint. Here are his frosh stats:

28 GP with 1 start, 187 mins played averaged 6.7 min per game, 44.7% from field, 0% from three on one attempt, 47% FT made (woof), 33 total rebounds with average of 1.2 per game, 36 PF's with 2 Foul outs, 4 AST, 10 TO's, 9 BLK's, 2 STL's, 44 pts with average of 1.6 per game.

IMO, Wiz is better but also has a larger sample size in games played. I believe he will get majority of center minutes with IJ coming off a redshirt year, but he'll have to improve on T/O's.

I will stand by what I've been saying all season. Ohio's starting center for the 2023-2024 season is currently not on Ohio's roster.

Could also seeing us going to portal for a center as well.

I would add neither is our starting PF. Too many question marks between Clayton and Ezuma.

Absolutely. Boals needs two home runs with transfers next year at the Center and PF spot. Hell...I'll take triples. But he can't bring in guys at that position who can't contribute with meaningful, productive minutes night in and night out.
