Just saw this on the Worcester Site.

Part of getting his Masters is the need for him to play on the Uni team that is part of the WOrcester Club.

Long as you play you might as well get another Gold Ball . Tourney MVP and  National University Champ. Not a bad day...

James delighted with final win

Worcester Wolves coach Paul James was a happy man after leading Worcester University to the BUCS title on Sunday.

The Worcester University side contained several Wolves players and defeated Durham University 88-81 in the final, with the north east side being based around BBL newcomers Durham Wildcats.

Tommy Freeman [pictured] finished with 23 points on his way to being named MVP of the final as Worcester won their second straight final against Durham. Three other Worcester players finished in double figures with Sherrad Prezzie-Blue finishing with 12 and both Arnas Kazlauskas and Aleksas Zimnickas each hitting 11. Mario Flaherty led Durham with 26 points with Frank Hinnenkamp adding 18 and Mike Capocci 16.

“It was a great week end for the University of Worcester at the BUCS Basketball Championships in Sheffield” said James. “Winning the competition for the second year running and six of the last eight years is a fantastic achievement.

“It was a high quality final between the two best University teams in Britain this season, Durham University and ourselves. We ran out eventual winners 88-81, but we were made to fight for it ever step of the way.

“It is significant that we now have a programme that can compete successfully at both university and BBL level. I have been really pleased with the commitment throughout the programme and the most exciting thing is that the model we are developing at Worcester can only get better. The move to the arena is clearly going to be a big landmark not only for the sport of basketball, but also for our region.”

James and the Wolves return to BBL action on Saturday when they host One Health Sharks Sheffield, while on Sunday they travel to Cheshire Jets.
