I am not surprised the Akron and Buffalo fan bases have several fans who are rooting against us and several more who think they would've easily went on the same run...While Ball State and BG fans are more supportive.  Fits the respective fan bases perfectly.

Thanks for posting the links. Isn't it great to read of their envy and jealousy? It's good to be a Bobcat!

Maybe those idjuts do not realize how much it means monetarily to their programs that we not only get in but advance. Too bad the MAC splits all the winnings....should have an incentive for the schools that advance to get a bigger peice of the advancement pools.

The general disappointment of our esteemed rivals makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I would root for all the other MAC schools to do well, except Akron.  I respect everything associated with Akron less each day.

LOL, that's some funny stuff.  Should be required reading for all Psychology majors. You can pretty much cite the full spectrum of defense mechanisms in those threads.

First, I appreciate all the comments of support. My heart hurts a little though for the BUGS poster talking about how he/she doesn't think they'll ever get to experience something like this... I used to feel that way about us.

But I think my favorite is the Akron poster who said this just proves that Akron was a Sweet 16 caliber team too ... followed by another poster reminding them that we beat them twice so, no, this doesn't mean that Akron was a Sweet 16 caliber team. LOL!

Can you imagine Zeke Marshall against those physical defenders USF has? He would probably be too emotional by halftime to come back on the court.

Well, what do you know? Apparently, M!@#! fans are aware that there's a tournament going on after all. They have a couple of threads ... just not on the basketball forum.

Thanks for the find Athena.

And they acted like there was no rivalry here

Really? Ask valpo, uw-m, green bay, and loyola if butler making runs made their lives easier.

Or ask anyone in the wcc..

We are recruiting against ou, who often draws around 10k fans per game. Them making tourney runs is not good for us. They have enough ammo to sell recruits without pointing to tourney wins.

Plus it's ou...do we not care about rivalries anymore?

Even better they had a  "who do you hate more Akron or OU" poll

that is a conundrum for Fiami fans....  It is one thing to hate a rivla deep down in your gut....but you really have to defer to Akron in any poll of this nature. For the record we still won the poll with folks who seemingly don't think we are a rival

They are living their worst fear of reality - Ohio, Cincinnati and Xavier all in the Sweet 16.

Throw in O$U, Kentucky, L'ville and Indiana and that means there are seven within a three or four hour drive from Oxford.  OUch!

Let's be clear, I will always have a deep-seated hatred for anything OU. The colors green and white make me throw up in my mouth a little. I root against you guys in the non-conference, conference, and MAC tourney. But I am officially pulling for you guys in the Big Dance. Keeping representing the MAC!

If I'm not mistaken, they will all get $600k to this point thanks to the men in Green and White.

Great read Athena!

It's hard to pick a favorite post...

OU wins and Duke loses. Somewhere Devilgrad is beating his kids.

I would be behind CMU or Toledo making this run. Not OU, half due to rivalry and half because I really think they could build on this.

I say go OU..only helps the MAC....and we need help...now if we could get an AD like them..we might get somewhere.

Lowest point in Miami basketball history and I have to sit here and watch OU celebrate a Sweet Sixteen birth. Vomit inducing...

Actually no it's not...

OU wins and Duke loses. Somewhere Devilgrad is beating his kids.

Winna!!!

I love this akzipper fellow on the Akron boards, he is so bitter.

I root for all MAC teams in post season period. When Akron was playing Northwestern not one ounce of me was wanting them to lose. If the MAC had been consistently winning the past 10 years Akron would have gotten an at large bid. It was only after the all the success of Ball State and EMU in the late 80'sand and early 90'sthis that the MAC began to get multiple bids. I remember in 1995 when Ball State won the tournament and Miami got the at -large bid, then Ohio and Eastern received NIT bids. When Kent made its run to the Elite 8 I rooted hard for the Flashes. Russ and Robb made great points last night that the Valley is down and this is the time for the MAC to reemerge as a solid 2 bid league. GO OHIO AND GO MAC!

Buffalo isn't against you, folks. We hate you more than any other basketball program in the conference, but we still realize that your Big Dance wins reflect our conference's chances at getting any respect in future years. Don't read into one poster's comments and think that we're all against you. Some people just don't see the benefits for Buffalo involved in your big run.

I root for MAC teams in the postseason and non-conference games. But given the ignorant observation by Akron fans, I need to point out they know all about "one and done" when it comes to the NCAA Tournament.

I agree with the sentiment, and I think it's true for most fans in the league. We should all remember that individual posters don't reflect an entire fan base. To put it another way, how often many times have any of you seen something from a fellow Ohio fan on BA that made you cringe? Every school has petty and ignorant fans who can't see the forest for the trees, but that doesn't mean they're typical.
