Fact--seeing Kent and Akron at the Convo is every bit as fun and exciting as watching O$U battle Michigan and Michigan State at the Shott. Buffalo gets the blood and elbows pumping too.
+1 Big Time!

As well, there must be at least 15 games vs Fiami that have been some of the most exciting sporting events of any kind I have ever attended in my life!

Louisville pulled another Houdini tonight, crawling back to beat Long Beach State.

Maybe the Love should have wrote - i don't do moral victories (anymore) from his post last year -

10. Lots of other thoughts, but I had a good time today. I'm not even that down about the loss. It was a fun day. Both teams are just marginal right now, but they played hard and the better team won out in a hard fought battle. We had a great crowd. Charlie was on fire. Truly, one for the books. Just a great time.

i guess 90% of us expected a win against Lamar

the idea is to play your best basketball in March - the team and staff as you pointed out probably feel the same way as some of your post, but don't you think they have moved on?

ozcat--whatever.  have fun with your columbus.   raf--yawn.

Some here come high and holy with 'facts.'  You gain mmore with some attempt at improving the situation (quality of discourse here, the 'Cats style and level of play).

More interested in games and the team in columbus than the Bobcats--can you believe that.

When I looked in they were way up. Turned off to watch Xavier Vandy when they were tied at 17, never looked back.

Fact. DJ Cooper (while I am still his biggest fan) is still taking god awful shots, and getting no flak from the bench.

I'd play Taylor more.

Even though Taylor takes nearly as many bad shots as Cooper, doesn't distribute the ball nearly as well and isn't as good defensively (yet).   People make note of Cooper's bad shots because they are looking for them.  We take a ton of bad shots every game as a team but the only complaints I ever hear are about Cooper's shots.    I agree that it would be great if he would cut down on his bad shots and it's great that we have alternatives but we are a much better team with DJ on the court.  I'm guessing that since Groce twice this year has called timeouts before a media timeout to get DJ back on the court when things were disintegrating feels the same way.

Maybe I'm missing your meaning but Louisville never trailed in the game and after an 8-0 start, the game never got closer than 5.  Not sure I would describe it as a "Houdini".

Other posts have mentioned the poor schedule and I agree. We are competetive this year and should have more "tests", even on the road. We may just win some of those games. You can't win a game like that if you don't schedule it. Sure, some years you get whipped, but you'll never get better by playing the hyphen schools on a regular basis.

Marshall's for real.  Along with Louisville and Northern Iowa, they will be the best teams we'll face this year out of conference.

Overall, schedule is OK.  But the fact that we don't have "name" opponents coming into the Convo in Nov and Dec hurts interest and attendance with the nominal fan.  Case in point:  at church Sunday morning, a local professional told me that he and his wife used to attend a coupla games a year and really enjoyed it.  I encouraged him to come to a few games this year.  I handed him a schedule...he looked it over and said, "I've never heard of the teams you're playing.  And why are you playing Marietta?"  He handed me back the schedule and said he wasn't interested.

Louisville took a 12 point lead into the break, LBSU got as close as 6 with about 6:30 to play but then Louisville finished it out with a double digit win.

Sorry, my dyslexia got me. I thought it was Long Beach that was up by double digits.

Oakland is another "high risk-low reward" opponent on the schedule. They will be super-tough at home...ask Tennessee.

Agree that Oakland and Portland are also solid opponents.  This schedule is not easy by any stretch.

So we're just going to say that there are no super-tough road games in the MAC? The reward is getting used to what the MAC schedule is like and winning them so they've got a shot at having a decent BracketBuster game come February which in turn could boost any at large chances they have in March.

I was just curious to read in this thread if the LOVE was able to find a McDonald's with a working McCafe machine after the game.

A bit of backstory. For the upteenth time after a basketball game (9.30pm), I decided I would try my hand at the Nelsonville McDonalds for a medium chocolate milkshake and 1 cheeseburger. I'm a simple man. I don't ask for much. AND in perfect syncronicity, for the upteenth time, the "McCafe Machine" was down. Complete with drive thru signage and verbal confirmation from the drive thru speaker.

Oakland will give us all we can handle, I'm certain.  That's a club on the rise, in my mind.  Portland looks like they might be down a touch this season -- it will be interesting to see how they fare against St. Louis and Boise State before we see them.

Correct, and what I was saying is that the out of conference portion of the schedule sets the team up for similar type of opponents when it really counts in January-March.
