I could care less about this run generating the final dollars for the multi-purpose facility, or for hanging scoreboards / video boards, improvements to the Convo, locker room renovations, etc. All I care about is that this run generates the funds to keep Coach Groce around for several more more seasons. As long as he's here, everything else will take care of itself. The multi-purpose center will get done no matter what. Maybe it won't have some additional bells and whistles we all want, but it will e completed.
However, the b-ball program will lose a ton of momentum if Groce walks out the door. Being able to extend him and give him some additional $$$ would mean way more to Ohio athletics than anything else right now. I'm not naive enough to think he'll be here 5 years from now because likely he'll get an opportunity he simply can't turn down. That being said, being able to keep Groce around for another year or two would generate all the funding we need for scheduling improvements, raises for assistants, locker room renovations, Convo renovations, scoreboards, and anything else you can think of.
I agree keeping him is important for as long as we can, however it's naive to assume that he's here for the rest of his career. I also agree the longer he is here, the better the odds are that these things get done. It's sort of a snowball effect. These other things are lasting things, some of which are really needed, such as the multipurpose building and locker room improvements.
