UNC seems to be doing its best to keep Ohio guessing about the status of their star guard.  It seems to me improbable that he'll play so soon after surgery.  I think we are dealing with coach doublespeak here, but I'm not sure.  What do our resident experts have to say?  Is he or isn't he? Thanks for any insights you can provide.

Thanks, Mike, I didn't realize that Marshall was robot.  I guess all it will take is a good mechanic and a can of oil and he'll be ready to go.  Too bad, I was hoping he wouldn't heal until Saturday.

I want him to play and I want their best out there so if, I'm sorry, when we win, they can't use any excuses.  I don't want to hear how Ohio got a break because Marshall wasn't playing or someone else.

OCF...many will say it's "coaches speak" but after hearing Roy Williams on Mike and Mike this morning, he sure sounded like Marshall is out.

I could care less either way but I do not like the fact that even Williams seems tired of hearing how NC can't win without Marshall.

That ship has sailed.  If he does play and we win it will be because he was playing hurt.

I don't see any way that Marshall plays.

I really doubt he'll play, but we likely won't know for certain until a couple hours before game time if that.  Williams isn't dumb.  He's not going to give us the benefit of not having to game plan for Marshall.  Right now, we have to prepare as if Marshall is 100%, create defensive game plans that force him right, prepare for Stillman, and think of any other options UNC might have at the PG spot (Barnes?), while Williams most likely already knows if Marshall will or will not play and knows how he will attack the situation.  If I were UNC, I certainly wouldn't be saying anything either.

I've expected him to play all along, and probably pretty effectively.

UNC plan - say its very unlikely he will play
get OHIO excited thinking they have a chance because he's not going to play
then a day or two before it's a miracle he's gonna play

he suits up
even does layup drills
try and defeat OHIO's hopes when they see him on the court

then he sits on the bench the whole game

we win

Willis Reed, Kirk Gibson, Curt Schilling, Kendall Marshall

Which one of these is not like the others?

If he plays he has to near 100%  I don;t think you risk a kid's health for one win unless (maybe) it's the final and he is the instigator.
