If the New York Times runs a headline  "U.S. to Bomb Iran" it is much different than the headline "U.S. to Bomb Iran?"

Careful, Brian. You'll get a mature, adult reply calling you an idiot and a crybaby if you question this.

U. of I's President just resigned, so a new coach might be hesitant to commit until new leadership is in place.

I like reading this logic.  Like it a lot.

I really like that we are willing to pay Groce upwards of $450,000 (if true, of course).

I'm assuming this we mean he is the highest paid coach in the MAC.  Anybody have a list of MAC coaching salaries?  I couldn't find one in a 3 minute search on the interwebs.

Somewhere out there a few months back I saw a 2010 article about coaching salaries in Ohio for coaches in post season play, Groce and Mich Cronin, and Thad Matta included.  I think it was a Plain Dealer piece.

I hope that $450,000 is the base pay but there are additional milestone bonus opportunities.    I think this figure would be similar to that of coach Solich's is it not?  What is the total amount coach Solich can earn assuming, MAC East title, MAC title, bowl appearance, bowl victory, BCS, etc.  I know its been posted before but i can remember.   I want to go on record as saying both the coaches are worth whatever we can pay them.  How much publicity have their programs been responsible for the past 3 years?  I would guess a lot.

I love this part of the article:

At Ohio, Groce has the best arena in the MAC, the best resources in the MAC — his school is willing to pay for more home games than almost any MAC team, his team charter flights to road games and he can pay his assistants the best salaries in the league. All of those things make Ohio by far the best job in the MAC right now.

Word.  The only thing he forgot was best fans in the MAC.

A weak President steps down and there is already folks questioning the AD.  Sounds like the opposite of here (and a situation Groce has often commented on).  The Illini job is losing some luster.  I have never met Groce.  Is he the type of person that would find that job enough to his liking to look beyond the situation?
