Down 26-11 and thinking, hmm, this could be one which is about over.  Maybe we'll find a way to get back in it.

We keep coming.

NC's advantage was physical.  Which is easier to establish early.  So, 26-11.  I thought we were a little off at first.  Rushed shots a bit or passed up good ones.  Then, we asserted our advantage, one that takes some minutes of playing to assert, hence 26-11: tough, mature, smart.

We keep coming.

NC had to have had a 4 inch advantage per man.  63-30 against us on the boards.  If it's 55-38, we win for sure.  But their boards, their dunks--we know that they'll win those battles.  We have defensive pressure and we figure teams out--how to stop them and to assert ours, how to get good shots.

We keep coming.

How many other teams in the tourney get down 26-11 in that game and come back?

We keep coming.

St. Louis is a great town.  Reminds me of hometown of Cleveland in size and atmosphere.  Except St. Louis integrates its work and residential areas so nicely and has kept its old buildings in lovely shape.  Cleveland has gaps of physical/space waste blot and the communities are too separated.

Not that impressed with NC's big men.  I saw Derrick Williams last year at the tourney that we played in Vegas.  It took mere minutes to see his NBA star talent.  NC's guys will have footnote NBA careers, I think.  Zeller is among those who think Zeller is a really good player who deserves calls just because of who he plays for.

I'd like to see a replay, but it seemed as if NC got the calls because they're NC.  8 free throws vs 24?

We keep coming.

Guts and confidence.  8 of OUr guys play double digit minutes.  Groce rotates for freshness and situations.  We shoot 23% in the first half but do the other right things so that we're only down 7 at half.  We start the 2nd with a 3-ball, NC then  hits 5 or 6 points in a row then to negate that nice start...but we keep coming.

Fearless.  I'm beginning to think that I know who our best NBA prospect is.  We turned it over a few times on what should have been easy passes around the perimeter.

We keep coming.  Perhaps NC's other slight edge comes out at the end--more experience in high profile, top competition games.  A bit more rebounding, a bit more individual offensive skill development, and more experience in tough, high competition games are next season.

Also not mentioned much has been the fact that while we did not shoot great in the first half, we did hold the supposed #1 seed to only 29 points.  Kansas gave up 47 to them in the 1st half yesterday.
