I sure would like to see Ohio and Colorado schedule a home and home.  Both programs play a similar style and would be great basketball to watch.  I was a student at Ohio when Huggins and Luckett were in Athens.

I think UNC owes us a trip to the Convo.

I suppose I'd take Colorado, although other than you living in Boulder, I'm not really sure what this would bring to the table for Colorado.

Personally, I'd like to see a game against DePaul or Northwestern, so DJ can play a game close to home in Chicago.

I'd also like to see this done for Baltic as well.  I'd like to see a game within driving distance of Kansas City, if that's where his parent's still reside.  My picks, in order:  Wichita State, Missouri State, St. Louis, or Kansas State.

Keely and Offut play games close to home in the MAC schedule, although I'd take a matchup with Butler or Purdue anytime.

Getting teams to come to the Convo just got more difficult.

Or more expensive.

Give Tom Izzo a call.  He usually doesn't back down from anything.  They went and played AT Gonzanga this year.  Not many major programs would do that.

I would not be surprised if ESPN played match maker for Ohio. In the past ESPN played a role in scheduling Ohio vs. UC and Xavier with the promise of national TV for one of the games. It was home and home with Xavier but UC refused a trip to Athens so the return was played in Cleveland.

The thing I'm interested in is if this can get the attendance base back to where it was in the 1990s.

This is the type of team that should be drawing 8,000 a home game.10 k on the weekends, 6k on weeknight.

Agreed.  I made it to two games this year (would have been 3 until they changed the Akron game).  I'm buying season tickets next year.

I want a slight upgrade to the schedule next season.  Nothing too crazy, but something that would be worthy of an at-large bid even if we go 11-5 in conference again.

Getting UC or Xavier in the Convo would be awesome.  I'm already on record pumping a Northwestern matchup.  I'm wondering if there is a possibility that we could land Temple as part of the buyout from the conference.  I'd take 1-2 neutral site games as well in Cincy or Cleveland too.

I'm not sure if Kansas has announced who they are playing in their holiday game in Kansas City, but that would be nice for Ivo.

It's pretty clear that this team shouldn't be afraid to play anyone.  Kansas scares me, but at the same time, a loss doesn't do much damange and would keep the SOS high.  Really, I don't care who we play as long as our schedule is at-large worthy.  I do not want to rely solely on Cleveland.

I would love to see you guys on Louisville's schedule again.  You guys were a great test, and I was really rooting for you all against the Tar Heels last night.  I don't expect to see you on the schedule, but it would be my preference since it looks like you guys will be MAC faves next year.

I think it would be great if we could get Pitt or a middle-of-the-road Big 6 team to play us next year like Texas, Penn State, Richmond, Maryland to name a few.  Preferably a home and home with them visiting us first, but i'm not getting my hopes up.

I feel like Pitt is a pretty strong candidate, with a very sub-par season this year, I feel like they would be willing to schedule us to try to work on building back up that program.

Wahoo!! Hope I can get the day off. That news just made my day!

So, what do we know so far?

vs. Northern Iowa
vs. St. Bonaventure
vs. Marshall
vs. Winthrop
@ UMass

Seems like a fairly solid start.

Isn't Northern Iowa also a 2013-2014 game?

Very happy to have Ohio visiting the Mullins.
We'll be on ESPN2 Tuesday and play a fun style of basketball.

Coming off a sweet sixteen season and a roster loaded with experience and a team and coach that has proved to the nation they can play with anyone, anyplace, anytime.  I think the team deserves a trip to Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands,  Hawaii or preseason NIT type tournament.  Can we get the Maui Invitational and Groce in a Hawaiin shirt?

I think Coach needs to add more top 50 RPI teams to next years schedule.
One has to believe we will be favored to win the MAC.
In addition, it's not out of the question that we are preseason ranked.

My best guess is that next years schedule will have a slightly different twist than last years.  It's been obvious that our schedule making philosophy under the current administration has been to get as many home games as possible; schedule as many wins as possible; don't schedule many and/or any unwinnable games (we're not going to schedule murders row and take our show on the road duing the OOC and have a losing record going into MAC play).

Next years schedule will try to accomplish the following:
1.  Position ourselves with enough games to garner an At-Large birth should we do well.  I think we'll add 1-3 additional marque games/tournaments.
2.  Give DJ a game around Chicago for his Senior year.
3.  Enough patsies to ensure a good record to keep the resume (W & L) strong just in case 2012-13 is our leaderships final year.

The following year we'll lose a ton of seniors and revert to a schedule similar to this past years.  Bottom line, I think we upgrade a notch next year, while still ensuring a fair share of "we definitely should win" home games.

St Bonnie loses some good peices this year

Ops has done a gret job with scheduling combing through points returning per game and matching us up with winnables that have a good shot at going deep or winning their conference tourneys. Northern Iowa just crapped the bed this year as did Oakland. Some things you can't control.

IF we can get a few more winnables in power conferences, especially if we can work a deal with them coming to Athens that would be a really good situation. With what is set there is a juggling act with available dates, teams that want to play us, money and SOS/RPI projections to consider.

THis coming year is the year where we can amp up the strength of schedule and pay heed to the NCAA mandate that took place with Iona over Drexel based on SOS and maybe ensure we can have a legit shot at an at large and get 2 bids next year...... (probably won't matter as these returning road warriors are gonna ROLL the MAC)
