Are you kidding?  Ultimately we lost because UNC dominated everything within 15 feet of the basket.  Like one of the commentators said after the game, Ohio did better w/ shooting 3s than 2s.  How many shots within 3 feet of the basket did we either miss or were blocked?  A dozen?  While Ohio clearly showed A LOT more heart than UNC, at the end of the day it was painfully obvious to me that UNC just had more talent.  No shame in that.  

I guess I am the only person who thinks the officiating was horrible.  It was.  We did not play great on whole and neither did NC.  The guys with the whistles in their back pockets were MVPs.

Note: I love this team.  I am not disparaging this team.  What an amazing season.  I love all those guys and coach.  But I am not content.  That was ripped from us. 

College basketball officiating is so bad that it is just assumed bad before the game even starts. No one even notices or bothers to complain anymore.

I was watching a Big Ten game this year and Dan Dakich said of a Ted Valentine call, "That's just Ted reminding everyone in the arena that he's still out there and in control."

Later, in the same game, the OSU coaching staff (Boals especially) enthusiastically ran onto the floor during a timeout to encourage the team. Valentine ran over and warned the bench. Dakich said "It's time for the commissioner to crack down on the theatrics from officials. It's ridiculous."

What I am getting at - college basketball referees control games and appear to love the spotlight and the theatrics. It's really terrible.

LOL you guys are naive, in the games where Cooper played bad and we lost there really wasn't anyone else stepping up.  In this game we had guys that were stepping up and deserved to be fed the ball until UNC took it away.  I am no way saying DJ isn't our best player or saying that we should get rid of him.  I am just saying in this case stepping up his game meant understanding the game and not trying to be the hero himself for once.

And let's give the #1 seed a little credit; I thought UNC played great interior defense.  

Was this DJ's greatest game?  No.  Would this team be in the sweet 16 without DJ?  Hell no!  DJ didn't take a bunch of ill advised shots tonight.  He was obviously the Tar Heels center of attention, so you have to give them some credit.  His shot wasn't falling tonight, but otherwise he had a good game.  If he puts on another 10 Pounds and improves on his finishing in the lane, watch out.  He will be one of the top point guards in the Country.  Thanks DJ for a great year!

Yea we couldn't make shots in the first half. ESPECIALLY the 1 footers. that hurt pretty bad. BUT WE COULDN'T REBOUND! They out rebounded us by 30!! That is horrible. Zeller had 22 rebounds and we totaled 26. I know. The kid is a stud down low. But they got 17 second chances during the game. At one point we gave up 3 rebounds in one possession to them. Don't get me wrong, we played with emotion and we played %110. But in my opinion, we lost the game. Yea Offutt makes the last free throw and who knows, we may be 1 of 8 teams left. But when you give a #1 seed 30 more rebounds, expect to lose. This is coming from a guy that had all of the confidence in the world of winning this game. I think Kentucky would have been the only team that scared me. The refs did make some questionable calls. But it wasn't like Louisville. This game is way more disappointing in my book. We didn't execute when they put the shots up. And during the season, Groce made great second half adjustments that really got us going. And I wasn't feeling it this game. We improved our shooting by a lot. But the rebounding didn't. And in the end, that ultimately killed us.  

I hate to rip on us on our last game of the season. We stayed with it throughout the night. But you gotta be good at every aspect of the game come tourney time. I'm proud of the Bobcats tonight. But I am far from satisfied. 

Si.com had a good postgame read saying that when DI takes >17 shots, the team is 1-5. Clearly, there were some questionable shots, even for DJ. I'm not complaining though. He took us on a hellavu ride.

It's the morning after and this game still leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  So many "if, only" scenarios that keep running through my mind.  If DJ pulls up and doesn't go for the layup that got blocked in the final minute.   If Walt makes the free throw to put us ahead by one and we make the stop like we did.  Then we are coming up the court not needing a shot to win but just to run clock and hang on to the ball.  We'd probably then be going to free throw line with the chance to go up by three.   All sorts of "what-ifs" that cloud my mind.  I'll get over it a in few days, but these "might have beens" haunt me.  I will also say I agree with PF that the officials at times had a strange case of "stuck whistle" -- especially on at least two blocked layups where there was an awful lot to lower body contact that wasn't called.  In one case the UNC guy was literally resting on the back of our player -- a classic over the back if there ever was one.   There there's the eye-punch that DJ received.  Kind of thought punching an opposing player in the eye was a foul, inadvertent as it may  have been.   

Overall, I love this team --- everyone one of them.  They played their hearts out and for that I'm extremely proud.  And, we showed that state university of Michigan in Ann Arbor who the REAL OHIO is.  That was priceless.  As soon as I get home I'm going to go the College Bookstore and buy one of those Michigone T shirts.
