You are so right! That game was in credible. The F do you team beat a team which was stacked with quality players including a 7.4 guy who could not be able to rebounded. FTU and it’s Coach deserve accolades!!!

Big 10 coaches couldn't figure out how to stop Edey/Purdue for the past 2 seasons. FDU Head Coach figured it out in one week. Double and triple Edey forcing others to make shots.

Should read “League of 14 coaches …”

Please, someone with more basketball knowledge than I do explain why a coach of a major college team NEVER plays zone? How hard is it to teach a 2-3 zone to high major D-1 kids? Purdue was out-quicked time after time and Edy was sometimes 25 feet from the basket so his size was actually a detriment trying to guard a 6-5 guy.

I’m not saying it even needs to be a staple for Painter, but the hubris to NEVER play zone seems truly unbelievable.

How many layups did Purdue give up because they were outhustled? FDU had 11 offensive rebounds.

I understand that Purdue shot horribly, but it seems like Painter got outcoached.

Easy to root against Purdue and for FDU.( If they were a few inches taller they would be world beaters with the heart of a lion)

Did anyone check the official’s bank accounts? Maybe Painter should be like Trump and not accept defeat. Storm NCAA headquarters.

The officials go through weekly FBI background and IRS checks on their financials.

Easy to say Players win games and Coaches lose them but Painter can't go out and shoot the ball or even make them shoot the ball once they stop having the mindset of being scorers.

Thinking about it and listening to different reports my take is that there is no clear-cut leader or "dawg" in the locker room. Those guys have left the building the last 2 years. Boilers were led all year by 2 freshman guards and a sophomore big. No alpha to rally them when the shots are not going. Gillis looks to be a silent leader that does his thing over the years with Ivey and others as the go-to. Maybe those froshes will develop but yesterday happened in the vacuum of leadership.

Painter has lost three tourney 1st round games in a row to low seeds. Makes you wonder. I think he's a good coach but are the natives rumbling in Lafayette?

Got to see the full press conference this morning. Pretty impressive for him to answer any and all questions. https://twitter.com/Kyle__Boone/status/1637134392257568768

Full press conference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVRlxVJ-L7Q

Media served him up some softballs and did not ask things directly but he took his licks. Still one of the best in the business that builds his program and turns out really good humans.

I'm curious what folks think of the FDU coach, and if he might remind anyone else of another coach. Don't confine yourself in answering this to just basketball. Maybe no one else will see this similarity, but it struck me the first time I heard him open his mouth for an interview.

David Johansen? Assuming he coached a youth team somewhere along the way. ;)

If F.D.U can win today,we get to play the next round at The Garden.

That's some pretty good incentive.

The Garden is about a 20 minute from campus.

Of course the scalpers will have a field day.

Well, that's not who I was thinking of. I'll wait and see if anyone else had the same reaction I did. Maybe it's just a "me thing," but I immediately thought of another coach who it seems to me speaks in a very similar manner.

Boiler press taking a shot at the National Press for not pursuing Painter's invitation to open things up. Twitter seems to be coming to his rescue as the Boiler followers are calling to get someone else that can win in March.

I have Purdue grads in my family and they are ready to burn it all down... but there aren't many who have names as a replacement.

I think Pat Kelsey would be a homerun.
