Good season by the guys. played hard. Big thank you.

Year in year out OUr team often appears less athletic than our opponents. Could someone take a stab at ranking our players (1-10) on their athleticism. A number of the freshmen appear (to me) to be a step in the right direction.

I think that failed alley-oop attempt late in OUr final game captured my thoughts on your request.

Watching this MAC title game was another unfriendly reminder how badly we do need athletes. We just don’t have the 6-7/6-8 guy that can jump out of the gym. And Kent/Toledo also don’t have a scholarship player like The Whiz who gets minutes.

A lot of focus on the 2023-24 season focuses on whether to Wiz or not to Wiz. My take is that it is time the program moves on from BRod/Miles and turns the keys to OUr backcourt over to Hunter/EJ/AJB. If Miles decides to come back it should be as a backup.

From what I’ve heard Miles has voiced he wants to return.

He can break the Ohio record for games if he stays and in close to 100% healthy. Conceivably, so could Roderick. Cue the asterisk calls.

Yup. Just nervous to see how the portal will treat us this year.

+1

I want Miles back but I think it also has to be established early on that he will be the sixth man. If not, you run the risk of losing AJB and Elmore to the portal. Those guys are automatic slam dunk starters next season.

Agree on EJ4 / AJB starting for next year, those guys deserve it. Now the question is who we will see at forward positions for next year. Potential transfer guy? Clayton and Ezuma with IJ at center? GWiz?

Me too. I hope he works his tail off this summer and becomes an unguardable 7 footer in the MAC. It would benefit OU and shut up the haters.

The likely scenario is, he improves some and ends his career as a serviceable if unspectacular big who gets rebounds, defends and gives you 5 fouls and some minutes.

If DW3 could physically play more than 25 minutes a game and IJ didn't get hurt, my guess is we'd have seen less of him this year. But those things happened and we did. Why some people chose to focus on him and his weaknesses every game, when he was the 9th or 10th guy on the roster, is beyond me.

“Why some people focus on the 9th and 10th guy on the roster is beyond me.” Huh? When that “guy” posts a -13 in 3 minutes and 58 seconds in the biggest game of the year…that’s a problem. No matter where he is on the roster.

And The Whiz wasn’t our 9th or 10th guy on the roster for the 2022-2023 season. He was typically the first guy off the bench brought in at the 16:20 mark for Wilson every game like clockwork.

Bottom line this Ohio roster does not have a Setric Milner or a Chris Payton. I’d be thrilled if we can add just one player that resembles Milner and Payton style of play. Clayton doesn’t have it. Hadaway doesn’t have it (although jury is still out) and time will tell with Nicol.

We have an offer out to this kid who would be a freshman and would definitely fit the mold: https://twitter.com/hortonkhali . His recruiting and other news seems quiet but apparently he had a 50 point performance against SPIRE Academy this season.

Roderick is the only one with a chance, he needs to 32 more games to pass Cooper.

Miles needs 42 games to catch Cooper.

ESPN currently shows both of them at 112. Whet is your reference?

i would love to see some athletic fellas rim rocking at the Convo.

i also would like fundamentally sound, solid defensive good outside shooters who drain free throws.

Can't have it all in the MAC. most of all i want good young men on a good MAC team. i've already seen more ncaa tourney wins than i ever expected. fun!
