The gun belonged to Miles didn't it? And there's no evidence that Miller knew what it was going to be used for? So really it just seems like "hey bring me the thing you have that belongs to me."
I think you're oversimplifying what took place. Yes, Miller might not have brought the gun with the intention of it being used in a murder but he still had a role in what went down.
For Alabama not to suspend him pending an investigation was negligent on their part and looks even worse in hindsight. Nate Oats' comments today were incredibly stupid, downplaying Miller's involvement to justify their inaction following the shooting.
There's people calling for them both to suspended indefinitely with some wanting Oats fired. We know Alabama won't fire him but this is much more serious than how their program has addressed the incident.
