Back then, coaches had to teach a class.
Took a Larry Hunter coaching basketball class with Trent during his Freshman year. Boals was also in the class.
Amazing.
Still hearing Larry voice......"compete".
His players still comment on Larry saying "COMPETE", that was definitely his favorite word.
I’d certainly bet on you and the players on this but certainly “mindset” has to be in the conversation doesn’t it? :)
I was just about to say the same thing. If Larry wasn't telling you to compete, he was talking about getting in the right mindset TO compete.
He certainly used that word "mindset" in a lot of his media interviews. The context I remember it in most was in explaning a loss, "We weren't in the propper mindset this evening . . ."
Not to contribute to thread drift, but did anyone else on this thread ever take an athletic officiating class, or any other class, from the legendary Jack Rhoads? If so, what word or phrase first comes to mind when you think of him?
