It would be a bit weird for a 56 year old man to do this but in this day of Facebook, twitter and text, this thing could happen in about two hours.  I can see it now, car after car of students pulling up to JG's house in University Estates tonight.  Maybe even a few members of the 110 could join them with horns in hand.  Back in OCF's day, they would serenade him with "We Love You Truly."  Not sure what the song of choice would be today but I think you get the point.   A tip to the Post and WOUB and you'd get the media coverage.  A quick post on youtube and you have a national story.

I posted a while back how good we have it here in Athens.  I know JG knows that but a gentle bit of reinforcement might save the day.  What the heck, it's an idea.

And it's an idea I like.

How 'bout that? A 56-year-old suggesting a social-media induced flash mob.

Well done Mr. Swank. Well done.

"We love you truly, oh yes we do . . . we love you truly, oh yes we do . . . when you're not with us we're blue, Oh John Groce we love you!"

P.S.  I was once serenaded by the girls of Kappa Delta with this song when I and my Acacia frat brothers help them build their homecoming float.  They sang separate verses with each of our first names.   Very touching.  So, yes, Alan, I do remember that melody.

Someone delete this thread already. It's giving the rest of us douche-chills.

Nice try on the song but it went "We love you Conrad"  so I think Swank had you remembering the much older version, not the Conrad version.
"I love you truly, truly I do"  picture a quartet of old men harmonizing it and that's what reminded him of you!

Next thing you know Mr Swank will be wearing a Black replica Jersey with a big #1 and the name Groce on the back......truly pulling out all the stops....priceless

Interesting thought though.....everybody really wants just one more year and a clearer eye on the next hire.....

Isn't that a country and western song?

This would be the exact opposite of what we should do.  Part of the charm of Athens is that our coaches can go to the store, or church and not be hounded.  I feel like a Penn State fan watching a creepy pilgrimage to JoePa's lawn for singing.
