All indications point to Ohio coach John Groce becoming the next Illinois basketball coach, according to Tribune sources, but athletic director Mike Thomas said no deals have been reached.

Yes, this is the same article where I actually contacted the Trib reporter today and told her that the line they used (Groce has a 34-30 record at Ohio) is incorrect. Hell, he had 29 wins this year. To her credit, the reporter wrote me back and said that it should read "in the MAC" and they'd correct it. But they haven't yet. Thinking maybe we should just let people think he is 34-30 overall...

Sort of. Read the big thread, I think the whole thing was layed out in that thread. There's even talk the presser was just a way to flush out the leakers inside Illinois. It's clear they were abour ready to make the hire, but something broke down. Why, exactly, is murky.
