Explaining that dis-respecting your opponents isn't appropriate obviously does no good. The way to get respect from Michigan is to beat them. Good job, Ohio. I especially loved this, from the Dispatch "..with the strong Ohio contingent in the crowd chanting, 'We are Ohio! We are Ohio!'”

Got that, Michigan?

Great to see your recent posts on the basketball board, L.C.  I think you should be in line for an honorary Ohio degree of some sort -- perhaps an MSA (Masters of Sports Analysis).

P.S. For those of you who don't frequent the football board, L.C. is a HuskerCat who has been posting since we Got Frank.  His in-depth analysis of everything from individual matchups to recruiting to pre- and post-game situations has become legendary on the football forum.  Kind of like E.F. Hutton, when L.C. speaks everyone listens.

Here is your answer!

"Is that not a Scoreboard"

(13) Ohio 65

(28-7, 11-5 MAC)

(4) Michigan 60

(24-10, 13-5 Big Ten)

Thought you guys might be interested in this. What this university of michigan at ann arbor fan is claiming about Hoke calling Ohio State "Ohio" since he was a kid has been dismissed by his own brother, Jon, a coach for the Chicago Bears.

Check out this article from the Detroit Free Press, the first paragraph in particular:

Thanks, but hardly. I'm just a fan with opinions, like everyone else. I'm not a major basketball fan, but I was pleased to see Michigan get what they so richly deserved. Go Ohio!

Just for argument sake, I have a quick question.

If you were going to play Oklahoma State, would it be disrespectful to call them "Oklahoma" even if you'd been doing it for 40 years?

If you were going to play Iowa State, would it be disrespectful to call them "Iowa" even if you'd been doing it for 40 years?

If you were going to play Colorado State, would it be disrespectful to call them "Colorado" even if you'd been doing it for 40 years?

If you were going to play Florida State, would it be disrespectful to call them "Florida" even if you'd been doing it for 40 years?

If you were going to play Michigan State, would it be disrespectful to call them "Michigan" even if you'd been doing it for 40 years?

If you were going to play Ohio State, would it be disrespectful to call them "Ohio" even if you'd been doing it for 40 years?

Why is this concept so hard for our friends from Michigan to grasp? The only way I can see it is similar to coach Groce, it's disrespectful to Ohio State to refer to them as Ohio and vice-versa. Also, lack of respect is one way to piss off your opponent and could wind up ending your season sooner than expected.

In a way it doesn't matter if the people from Michigan don't get it. Hoke's insults did not play well in the rest of the country. Nor did his defense that, because he acted childishly at 10, it was appropriate to continue to act childishly. Ohio gained a lot of support and respect at a result, while there were many across the US, who would otherwise not have cared about the game that were happy to see Michigan get what they so richly deserved.

Everyone that I have talked to about it says that OHIO took the high road and gained a lot of respect and attention to not only sports but the great academic programs also! Thanks Coach Choke

Sounds like OUr Governor hasn't been informed that we prefer "OHIO"

Sorry, Mr. President. Looks like our Ohio U. Bobcats just put a big dent in your bracket. What a great win!

Sorry, this probably breaks a B.A. rule, but this shirt is so sweet I just had to dig up this old thread and tack this onto the end: www.ebay.com/itm/200736467560
