There's enough sad news around here following our greatest season in some time (maybe ever).  This week, the final polls will come out.  We have a chance at ending the season ranked in the top 25 of at least one poll, if not both.  We will most certainly receive votes in both, so predict where you see the Bobcats finishing.  I'll go first.

ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll:  22 (I think we get respect from a number of coaches)

AP Top 25: 26 (most votes not in the top 25)

I think we will get votes in both polls but will fall short of the top 25.  I think we'll end up somewhere around #40.

I don't believe the AP does a postseason ranking -- only the coaches do.

Richmond was a #12 seed last year that made it to the Sweet 16 and got beat pretty badly in that round and ened up #21 in the Coaches poll. So I'd think Ohio, coming within a point of actually winning in that round, should make the top 25. Richmond's record last year, by the way, was 29-8.

And I believe it must be correct that the AP doesn't do another poll. I can't find one for the end of last year.

I'm not sure we'll crack the top 25 but we'll be better than that. I think John Groce's very public courtship by Illinois put our name out there and that will count for some votes.

The cynic in me says the Sweet 16 was last week's news that is already forgotten by most of those who vote and we wind up 30th.

The optimist in me says they'll watch the "One Shining Moment" segment of CBS's coverage tonight and we wind up 25th.

I'm going to go the optimistic route and say #20.

That being said, I actually doubt we'll crack the top 25. As much as I hope and want us to, I just don't see it happening, no matter how good our tourney run was.

What makes people think we won't get at least as much credit as Richmond last year? They got beat by 20 in the Sweet 16 and still got ranked 21 as a 12 seed.

What an awesome accomplishment!

Top 25 in the final coaches poll. Wow.

The players should puff out their chest today.

When is the last time this happened? Ever?

I think this will also mean that this will be the longest that Ohio has been ranked in history. We'll have this honor for at least 8 months.

I think back in the '90s, in Gary Trent's tribute video Geno mentioned being in the Top 25 during their time as players, but that was almost two decades ago, so this is huge! Way to go Bobcats!

We got up to #14 that year but that was right after the pre-season NIT.  By the end of the year I don't believe we were even getting votes.

I'd say 1970 was the last time we ended up being ranked.

I thought someone said it was the first time we have ever finished a season ranked.  But that could be a product of the final post-tournament poll not being around back in the day.

Love seeing us make the top 25, but shouldn't #25 and #22 be reversed?  Just saying . . .
