Did DJ break the all-time steal record during OUr postseason run? I know he was getting awfully close, but I don't recall hearing any mention of it during the tournament.

Other record stats I noticed:
Cooper's 1,595 points are 10th-most in history. Would have to score around 20 a game in a long season to get the record, but second is pretty attainable.
Cooper's 1,353 career field goal attempts ranks ninth all-time. His 198 3-pointers made is 6th, his 642 3-point attempts is 1st, his 401 FTs made is 7th, his 533 attempts is tied for 7th. He needs to play 25 games to become 1st all time and start 22 to become first all-time (he's fifth already). Then of course, assists, he's already first by a pretty good margin.

Jon Smith's 46 blocks this year ties for ninth-most in a season. At this rate, he should move into all-five all-time by the time his career is done.
Reggie Keely currently ranks ninth all-time in blocks with 80 in his career.
Cooper's 465 field goal attempts this past season is ninth-all time for a season.
Kellogg's 85 made 3-pointers is fifth all-time in season. Cooper's 75 is eighth. His 244 attempts this year were second-most in a season.
Cooper's 211 assists this season are third-most (behind his previous two seasons). His 85 steals this past season are second-most (to himself) in a season.
Ohio's 2,597 points this season were fifth in school history.
Ohio's 62.5 points per game against is third-best in school history.
Ohio's 901 made field goals is 5th.
The 278 made 3-pointers is tied for 1st. 809 attempted is the most.
351 steals is the most ever (2nd is 278).

He's got the chance to break barriers of 2,000 pts, 900 assists, 600 rebs, and 300 steals. I'd like someone to give me another player in college basketball history that's done that before. My first guess would be Oscar Robertson without looking it up.

Also Kellogg's 149 made 3-pointers already is 10th all-time. At this rate, he will easily make it to first. Also likely will rank among the leaders in attempts and percentage by the time he's done.

FYI - The Big O had 2,973 pts, 1,338 rebs, and 425 assists - in 3 years (THREE - only 88 games - wow!) years at UC. I don't believe steals were a recorded stat back then - can't find a stat.

Wow, thanks for reminding me of the Big O's stats. The one that surprises me is the assist numbers. I do remember him dishing the ball off, but when you think of the the Big O the first thing that comes to mind is scoring. Unlike, DJ, the first thing I think of is assists, even though he can be a prolific scorer at times, himself.

I recall reading that DJ would be the 3rd player ever with 2,000 points and 900 assists.

Gary Payton had 2,172 points, 938 assists, 480 rebounds and 321 steals.

Sherman Douglas had 2,060 points, 960 assists, 299 rebounds and 235 steals.

Not bad company to be mentioned in the same breath as Gary Payton. One place DJ will finish greater than Gary is rebounding, as Payton only had 480 through four years, DJ already has 512 through three.

Another thing that would be fun for DJ to get (and something that would mean a great season) is that he has 89 career points in the NCAA tournament. Can he get to 100? He already is part of the group w/ the most NCAA tournament wins in school history, and I bet he could hold every school postseason record.

Does anybody know what the most career points scored in the NCAA tournament is for a MAC player?

It's just a guess, but I suspect the closest would be would be Wally Szczerbiak, who scored 90 in Fiami's Sweet 16 run, and Antonio Gates, who scored 75 points during Kent State's Elite Eight run.

By my quick and sloppy math, that team was led by Chandler Thompson of Muncie Central with 60 points in three games, including 21 in the near upset of UNLV. That was a great team.

I would hav thought Parris or Curt were the scorers in that bunch....2 from Chandler I never get tired of watching....not bad for a 6 foot 3 ish PF

DJ has an outside shot at breaking the MAC all-time steals record. Bonzi Wells holds it with 347 steals, which is actually 6th most in NCAA history.

DJ needs 88 steals to tie his record.

93, 81, 85 are DJ's three year totals so far.

Let's not forget about DJ's minutes being likely to drop a bit... I don't expect his production per minute to drop off, but I expect that Stevie will cut a little further into DJ's minutes his senior year. To help DJ get some rest, and to help prepare Stevie to lead this team in the coming years.
