Come on guys, that's in western Virginia.  TOS to ODU in EASTERN Virginia would have more credibility!

I lived in the Blacksburg area for a year and loved it. Great school, great fans and a beautiful campus. That is a good job if it has in fact come open.

. When I worked at Tech that was a UVA bumper sticker that read "all dirt roads lead to Blacksburg". Of course the big bumper sticker for Tech at the time read "women at VMI? what's next, men at UVA?". Pataskla do you have a little wahoo in you?

Other than Ohio, I always pull for Tech.

I respectively disagree. Lots of negative with this job

1) Tough to recruit to area (no big city)
2) Tough conference to play
3) Football school
4) AD that screwed over the next coach by waiting over a month to fire the old coach. Lost a year in the recruiting process for sure.

There are some positives (money, conference prestige, etc.) But, I don't think this job is going to attract a high level coach....although I may be wrong.

Virginia Tech has a lot of population areas that it pulls from.  It is featured as a local team by the Washington Post even though it's almost as far away as Athens.  But there are a ton of alums in the DC area so the games are covered as if they are a local team.  They also have Richmond and the Tidewater area to draw from.  But they have become much more of a statewide team than UVa.

That being said they are a football school first and foremost.  The thing I would worry about if I'm an incoming coach is that I think Greenberg was dirty.  I just have a feeling that is part of the reason his assistants jumped ship en masse.  One of my co-workers is VPI alum and that is what he said last week.  I have no evidence that that is the case other than the talk around the water cooler so don't quote that as fact. But if I'm the new coach I'm doing some serious due dilligence betore accepting the job.  Wouldn't want to end up like Dan Dakich.
