I always thought this guy was way too proud of himself for his own good. "HEY DID YOU HEAR I'M GETTING A PHD AND I BLOG FOR A HARVARD PUBLICATION??" Otherwise, a nice nostalgic piece.

See I didn't take it that way. I figure if he is getting a Ph.D. and he blogs for such a prestigious publication he SHOULD be proud of it and in this instance mentioning it helps further his point that OHIO alums are spread all over the country and are very successful but no matter how far you move or how successful you become we're all still Bobcats, and that is a special experience which most college experiences cannot even begin to rival.

Good article and very true!  It did not sound like bragging to me.  OHIO grads need to know they can be successful with the best thoughout the nation.  They need  to be proud of what they are doing and accomplishing.  And they should cherish the friends and experiences while attending school in Athens.  He seems to be doing all of that.  I am glad he submitted the article to the Athens News and hope many of the grads read it.  I loved the anecdote about his buddy the groom:  " He was the grown-up version of the guy I saw at 3 the morning of graduation, when I found him marching down South Shafer in boxers and a football helmet. He told me it was game time and that he loved O'Betty's."

I like the Athens News. Great paper to read to keep up with what's going on in the community. The Post doesn't open themselvs up to letters like the Athens News does. Athens News is also much more open to both sides of the stories compared to The Post where editors have recently let personal views get in the way.
