I don't know that I believe any defense is patently better than another because I believe it comes down to the aggressiveness or lack thereof in a given set on any given night but I'm not a big time coach or sports writer.

Regardless of that, I was at St. Louis' NCAA first round game against Memphis in Columbus and I assure you that, whatever the reason, that was one of the ugliest games I've ever seen. St. Louis pulled off the upset, however.

(Yes, I know we were playing in Nashville that night but I couldn't go, see, so I gathered all the Spartan fans in Nationwide to watch us take down their hated rival instead.)

Excellent article

For the record and for those who are wanting to know...along with Sean Miller at Arizona ....the last four OHIO teams have used the Pack Line with Groces tweaks. We also have several ways to treat a screen a la Majerus at SLU. Knowing those things re reading the article is very interesting as it applies to how success has been manufactured. Of other interest is how successful we have been shooting the 3 ball against the different schemes.

I've always felt we were pretty good jumping out on the shooter on the "pick and roll" to make it a "contested" three. My problem has tended to be that we give up the easy basket in the lane because we don't guard the "roll" very well or have "help" in the lane. Guess it's better to give up a two and not the uncontested three...

You'll have to ask Borna about this, but I think defensive rotations were significantly better this year. Fewer blown coverages and easy baskets.
