I want to thank Jason Arkley and Bobcat Showcase for their outstanding coverage of the Cats this year! Arkley has and continues to do and outstanding job, but I want to give an additional thumbs up to Bobcat Showcase.
The way our football and basketball teams performed and carried themselves this year made me incredibly proud to be an Ohio University Alum as I have stated previously. However, the added coverage from Bobcat Showcase has been unbelievable for added content, analysis and perspectives on our beloved Bobcats. Not to mention, it was done in first-class manner with the highest level of journalistic integrity (not always found with the Post). They did not write get caught up in reporting rumors and opinions versus fact, in a time when with blogs, messageboards and BobcatBlitz "sources" it is easy to be sidetracked. When rumors were rampant they sought information and got answers before writing about it and feeding the rumor mill. In the most recent example they even squashed the BobcatBlitz "sources" or opinion stated as fact crap with their interview of DJ's Mom. I don't think there is a better indicator of the job they have done and the professionalism they have done it with than the time and access our coaches and programs have given them.
Also, I applaud you for showing the university, Athens and alumni communities the opportunities and value a Division I athletics program provides! You have solidified athletics place within our university community and further emphasized this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AboE8KZjzw. That video shared what many of us already knew and what many critics conveniently ignored. However, it will be more difficult for them to ignore now due to the visible, public and classy manner in which you demonstrated it!
In summary, the Bobcat Showcase crew has made me as proud an alum as any of our student-athletes or sports programs successes or accomplishments this year. I commend and thank you for the hours upon hours (Joyous Hours) of additional time that I have dedicated to the Bobcats this year thanks to your hard work and the content you provided. I only hope that you are returning next year or have identified equally capable individuals to take over in your stead.
BRAVO!!
