What is a "longevity bonus"??  Why wouldn't that be included in his base pay?

My understanding is a longevity bonus is typically a one-time payment that is made if the coach stays around for a certain number of years (5 years or whatever) which is paid out when he reaches that amount of time with the university.

I believe Frank also had some bonus kick in if he fulfilled either X number of years of his contract, or something of that sort. Maybe gradually increasing as time went on.

If it were a significant enough sum, it could also be something to deter from leaving before the contract has run out.
